a saber for a wookiee jedi, and im not talking about lowbacca
what do you guys think a wookiee's saber would look like - im thinking that it would combine advanced tech with nature so im thinking some leather hand grip, and maybe not a chrome finish it would be bigger i have a couple of designs im working on let me know what you think

Check out all the wookiee weapons you can in ROTS pics. They seem to combine wood and bronze. Combine the great power of a bowcaster with the elegance of a lightsabre like Mace Windu's, and you'll have a great weapon.

I agree with the wood and bronze and I definitely think it would be MUCH LARGER, kinda like a clamore of lightsabers. Working some leather in there would look cool as well.

Claymore of lightsabers.... I like that! that got me thinking, i was going to have the traditional 36" blade coming from it maybe i should lengthen it? how long are claymore's usually, ill try to post some progress later tonight on it i think its looking pretty fantastic right now

For a Claymore, Start thinking in the 5 1/2 foot range, and even longer, including the hilt. The hilt/handle alone should be a two handed affair, 18 inches and longer and the blade should start at 48 inches. Most Claymore were slung over & behind the back of the barer. The beauty of a Claymore lightsaber is that the blade would not drag to the ground if worn on the hip. In this case, it could still be belt-hung, since the blade is not there until handheld & activated.

I was talking with another Star Wars fan today about this dicussion and he thinks this idea of a Wookie saber is awesome. I am not ever going to make a Wookie costume but I am intrigued by the idea of a Wookie saber. So I am now thinking about making it my next project when I get back from CIII. I do not want to take anything away from you Diet, but this idea has great potential. Good Luck.

hey if i didnt want people to use the idea i wouldnt have posted it in the first place, i have a fairly good base right now im trying to find little things to add some detail, my dowel rod fits well and has some thumb screws for securing it on and im shying away from the shiny sleek metal look, its going to look a like a more primative used and reused metal and its going to have some weathered red paint on the tip it looks like it might turn out pretty good its much more rugged than traditional lightsabers though
i had another idea about them, in the young jedi knight books Tenal Ka made hers from the tooth of a Rancor that she killed something like that for a normal jedi would look really cool

i thought you might find this tutorial on "How to Wood Grain" helpful. It's from the TD-8034 site. sci-fire.com/how_to_wood_grain.htmif you want to use a pvc or some other material...other than wood... Also, I think the wookie blade would be quite a bit larger...using my algebra.... a 36" blade for a 6 foot person (72") is proportional to a 48"blade on a 8foot(96") wookiee. remember though...your arms will still be their normal length. Well, now that you mention it, I have been working on an Internet-Picture Book idea for the last 5 years titled, 'A Complete History of the Lightsaber, An elegant weapon from a more civilized age'. My story follows a Yoda like Scientist & Historian character throughout Archeological digs and Archive research studies. The result being his data-file about the Origin & History of Lightsabers. For my story, I have constructed several dozen Lightsaber designs and one of the first prototypes was a Wookie Lightsaber. I will see if I can find it. It is based on the size and style of Scottish Claymore. I even designed a larger Lightsaber for an extinct race of creatures that stood over 10 feet tall. The Hilt is almost 3 feet long. Also a smaller race who's Jedi made Lightsabers the size of a 'Chapstck' dispenser. But that 's another Story...

[glow=red,10,300]O and before i forget heres a link to a sight with lightsaber pics(not sure if you have been there) but it shows Yarael Poof's (one of the 13 council members in Episode I & II) lightsaber.
www.thelightsaber.com/history5a.htm (he's near the bottom of the page)
he's, of course not a wookiee but his hilt is extended and I thought it might give u some ideas.
so we know that it wasn't that rare to see extended lightsaber. hope it helps!
again, GOOD LUCK
