Thanks guys! I started building a lightsaber yesterday and I my girlfriend's mother has a machine shop in her basement. However I thought about using a dowel rod for a blade but I know they make acrylic ones. Does anyone know where I can get one? I'd be grateful for some info. Anyway, the main part of the hilt I made from one of those door closers you see on screen doors. I just removed all the parts except the endcap which I loosened to use later (It's got a really nice loop where I put a "D" ring). I used an inner core made from a 3/4" copper tupe with a 3/4" dowel rod on the inside that the endcap screws into. On the other end I used the swiveling part of a shower head and screwed the round part into the dowel rod. In the other end of the shower thing I glued a half inch aluminum pipe to use as an emitter. All in all it looks pretty cool. Kind of a Obiwan "retro" look. Thanks again.
