I originally saw "Star Wars", now called "A New Hope" in the theater in 1977. Though I was entralled by it and the next 2 films, I did not become a Fan until Episode One. In 1977 I was most interested in the Jedi but they weren't very well developed until the Prequel Trilogy. As George has said, it was in Ep I that we see "the Jedi in their prime in the Prime of the Jedi".
My fascination with the Jedi has increased since then and I have been making costumes and props since 1999. I have "standard" Jedi tunics of cream colored linen and brown robe. I think I was the first to make a Jocasta Nu costume. She's not a very appealing character but her clothes were nice! I have made a number of props and 4 lightsabers, all of them from hardware parts.
I am also involved in the Rebel Legion and am XO for Alpha Base, the Seattle chapter.
I now live just south of Seattle, WA. I grew up in Michigan, moved to England for a fellowship year of graduate school, back to Michigan to finish. I then was hired as a civilian (Federal civil service) by the US military. I worked, and lived, 5 years in Germany. Back to the USA and to California for my husband to finish college. We moved to Washington in 2000.
My husband is Don and we've been married 24 years. He's the LAN/WAN manager (computer networks) at the same hospital where I work. No children.
My profession is medical social worker and I have an MSW degree. I have worked in hospitals for the past 18 years. My specialty is Oncology but there wasn't a job in that area when we transferred here, so I'm waiting, hoping and working in General Medicine and Primary Care!
My husband and I have both been involved in the SCA since 1981. That's were my costuming started, though my mother taught me to sew as a child.
I love to read. I most enjoy classical music. I started undergraduate as a music major and play the flute. I'm very identified with my Irish heritage, so I also enjoy Irish traditional music.
My Jedi name, Kai-Thri Ona, is fractured from my SCA name, Caitriona. And that's old Irish for Katherine, my real name (called, "Kate").
