Well, Granny-Wan, I think you found the fabric I am using, except I would describe it as stone-khaki. It is absolutely FAB; it has a nice weight and hangs like a dream. Sews pretty easy, too, without stretch. Love it, but, like you say, it's not cheap. I bought it with my 40% coupon at JoAnn's. I just got another coupon in the mail, so I'm probably gonna go get another bit of yardage of that same fabric for the next tunic attempt. Sheesh... cha-ching! ~hendel :-) Yes, I get those coupons, too... still can't afford ANYTHING right now... and I really need a new belt first... and my next tunic will be experimental, so I'll have to try it on something cheap first... My current tunic is too big and is getting very thin from washing! But a clean Jedi is a happy Jedi... ;D

Yes, you just wrap it around and tie. However, don't you find the ties bulk up under the belt? I don't have long ties on mine and I just pin them in place. lol...with all the bulk around a Jedi's waist...I guess I don't notice it...but sure...they could be pinned in place....and again...every Jedi is different....so Kryy...you may or may not like the Obi better....let us know....I am putting it in the mail today...so you should get it in a few days.... here is the tutorial at our main site... www.thejediassembly.com/tutorials.php?id=b5hif you click on the last illustration of the sash it shows you the basic idea of an Obi... It came, and I LOVE IT! ;D ;D ;D It is nice and flat and neat, and I think I found my waist again, which was MIA with the bias cut style and all of that fabric, even with the wrinkles tacked down! I love the bias cut on the principal actors' obis, but this one fits me (and probably a lot of women) much better. Nice and snug and tidy and NO bunching up and NO tug of war!! But.... confession... I tried it the "correct" way, but then I turned it around and put the solid piece at the back to hold my (Obi-Wan style) tabards tightly in place and then crossed the obi in the front. The ties were long enough to wrap around and go around to the front again, and then I tried Ani's way of the pseudo-knot and then wrapping and tucking the ends. That was always another part of the obi tug-of-war... keeping the ends of the tabards from popping out of the top of the obi. This one holds them in place perfectly. I have an event this weekend, so I can't wait to model the "new and improved" and "neater and tidier" me. Thanks so much Schph!!

No problem... like I always say... we live in the "real world"...and sometimes you have to make a compramise or two.....so little of the obi actually shows anyway..so it makes more sense to wear it the way it works best for you....

Ha! None of the above. It's an iron-on! Just print and iron Very nice and very simple. The background color is very light. I can never get anything that light on a black background with an iron-on Is that the same fabric as the rest of the bag, or is there is lighter colored circle?help me! I ordered 2 more kinds of fabric this morning.... I do want to do a departure from the "norm" though...still within the earth tone family...but.. something different... any ideas?? Well, my last tunic was a floor length one (ankle length actually) with a stole around the neck instead of tabbards like Obi-Wan's in ANH. I've been very happy with it.Acal's tabbords are like a stole Can anyone post a pattern for that? I'd like to experiment with it and see how that works.. My first tie around Obi didn't work well because I didn't use interfacing in between the layers Only two layers of raw silk REALLY likes to roll up and scoot under the belt.

Tabbards like a stole? Do you mean wrap around the neck like Obi-Wan in ANH? I made that.... I just used two rectangles and sewed a center back seam... however, I would suggest narrowing it down at the center back or else it bunches up a lot...

Oh my, you ARE in Jedi Junkie / "Creative" mode! Hmmm, after my first priority, a re-do of my original khaki set, I've thought about doing a "historian"... with a style being sort of a cross between Jocasta Nu and Jedi Master Fay... the "cut" of the longish Master Fay tunic but with the Ansata pattern tabards and yet a regular obi, utility belt, and lightsaber. I have even considered doing those Ansata tabards in garment weight leather with an embossed design rather than embroidered. This idea is simmering on the back burner, so I haven't thought it all the way through, especially the technical parts. I'd especially need to consider how to do the leather, since the embossed parts of Shaak Ti's and Luminara Unduli's costumes are the thicker "tooling" leather and not garment weight. (Hmmm, must go have a chat with my friends at Tandy... ) But if the Jedi were real, I could easily see myself spending a lot of time in the Temple Archives, so the "historian" garb sort of fits my personality. So for you, what about a historian, or a healer, or one of the (very) Old Republic characters?

Ha! None of the above. It's an iron-on! Just print and iron Cool graphic, where'd you get it? The bag looks great! And about the white lining and not being able to see inside your bag... at Target tonight I saw several styles of purses/totes with a little flashlight attachment that illuminates the interior! It's about time! I wish they'd do the same with the change section of a wallet. At night it's too hard to see the difference between dimes and pennies. (Yes, I eat at the drive-through much too often, which is why I'm fishing for change in the dark. )

Granny wan: I have no idea where I found the relatively hi res graphic of the Jedi council floor. I've had it for many years and the source is lost in internet antiquity.
Old Obi Wan's tabbard is made like a liturgical stole. If you look in the back of pattern books, there is a pattern for vestments and included is the stole.

Myn, the tabbards to my healer tunic are indeed like a stole (around the neck, not down the back). I'll see if I can still find the pattern, and if I can't, I'll trace the tabbard and make a new one. It's in three parts, and the part around the neck is curved to lay flat.

Thanks Acal. That'd be great.
Granny-Wan, that costume sounds nice. I'm going to add some embroidry to my long tunic but it'll be the same shade as the fabric.
How about Mudcloth designs for possible tabbords and Obi? THose are usually in earth tones.

Thanks for the pattern tip, I never thought of looking there... but I'm not remaking them, I just fold the center under a little bit when Grampy-Wan puts it on... Well, I spent the money for parts for a new belt, so I'm REALLY going to have to wait for new tunic and tabbards.... LOL... but I want to....
