Found this video of a 21 foot long, 1/2 scale, X-Wing rocket launch. One thing- when the interviewer realizes this is a real rocket launch, he can't help but let out a single "oh (stuff)" response. Another thing- it doesn't have a happy ending. Rocket powered X-Wing launch

I used to have the model rocket X-Wing... But a 21 foot one...that I wouldn't mind seeing.

Good grief! I agree with Siri. Why fly it if you can just keep it? I'd LOVE to have something like that in my backyard.

Hmmm... I can understand everyone's dismay over what appears to be destroying a fantastic X-Wing model... However you have to think of it from the "rocket builder's" point of view (at least this is how I see it ): The guy builds rockets. Rockets are meant to be launched. Sometimes they take off and fly spectacularly (like the one at the end of the video) and sometimes they blow up shortly after takeoff. In this case- the guy built a rocket that looks like an X-Wing (not the other way around--- or a model X-Wing that rockets were attached to). And the whole point was to launch it. I'm sure he didn't expect it to expire that quickly, but I'm also sure he was aware of the risk.
