I enjoyed parts --
- the resemblance to "the real thing" complete with the music
- the shopping mall gag about "where are we in the Death Star" (references to Banana Republic, Lady Footlocker, Mrs. Fields, and "we parked over here"..)
- the "Imperial March" elevator music
- the two Imperial guards asking to have a safety railing installed
I found other parts stupid or crass. Our cable went out right after they went to the cell block to rescue Leia (the "situation normal" part) so it sounds like we missed the worst parts. I did NOT like them making Obi-Wan a doddering old fool... He's sort of the hero of the whole epic, next to Luke of course.

It took me a while to put 2 and 2 about why most of TJA did not like it, and I can't blame them . I thought making the creepy old guy as Obi-Wan (The first jedi) was wrong.

I think that you really have to be a fan of Family Guy to really appreciate this episode, and only because you really have to know what the characters are all about. Like the old guy who plays Obi-Wan...I can see why people would be offended by it, but in the context of the regular show, it actually fits perfectly. Anyway, it is certainly a raunchy, crass, oftentimes offensive show, but part of what I like about it is that they make fun of EVERYONE and EVERYTHING equally. No discrimination ;D! But not for kids either. I hated the show for a long time, especially Peter's character, but after watching it for a while on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim with my husband (who loves the show), I really started to like it.
I have to say that I really liked the episode, but then again, I also like the show, so I guess I am biased!

Right... for alot of the humor I had to ask my husband (who loves Family Guy) what the joke was or who the character was supposed to be. Like I didn't get who R2 was until he told me who the FG character was.

I really enjoyed the incredible job they did with matching the animation and music with the actual film frames, and many gags made me laugh. Although I tried to just take the Obi-Wan thing for what it was supposed to be and laugh a little, deep-down it kind-of bothered me. I guess it's because Obi-Wan is my favorite SW character and it didn't seem to sit well with me for him to be like that.
I know it was just meant in jest, and the guys who create FG and Robot Chicken are truly SW fans at heart, so I let it slide. I still DVR'd and watched the entire thing (did the Jeff Dunham thing as well - he's terrific).
Overall, I can understand both sides...those who enjoyed the niche humor and those who found it offensive all have the right to their opinions and are all correct in my book.
Just my humble opinion... ~Darcu

the biggest problem I have with family guy is the character of brian the dog.
the presmise: a "personal relationship" with your "lord and master", made to look ridiculous. its a poke at christianity. the very idea that a human could have a "personal relationship" with a superior being.. well.. you'd have to believe in talking dogs. or godlike humans. or whatever.
(their point: you can't have a "personal relationship" with something thats not a "person"; so they "personify" the dog to a point of absurdity, just to ridicule the notion)
-=========-
having said that, my biggest problem with this episode was I failed to see the "funny" (most of the jokes were lame. robot chicken was a LOT funnier). I barely cracked a smile throughout *shrug*

Well, Family Guy in general is pretty crass, so, if you don't like the show you won't or wouldn't have liked the SW episode. The show is kind of hit and miss with me, personally, but I mostly liked the SW one. Part of the choice for the creepy old guy is that he's pretty much the only old guy they have. Believe me, he's MUCH creepier on the show, to the point where it's not one of the bits I care to watch. They also toned down Quagmire/C3PO a lot as well, which was good, and probably on purpose given that a lot of non-Family Guy folks were bound to stop by just because it was SW related. That's the point that most people need to keep in mind. Yes, it had something to do with SW, but it was still just Family Guy. Family Guy is rude, crude, and insulting to both things that they love and things that they don't love so much. Watch at your own risk or at least with parental guidance. Second point, Seth Green creator of Family Guy is also Seth Green creator of Robot Chicken. Just saying... Edit -Hehehee... incorrect, Lala! I seem to have confused Seth Green and Seth McFarlane. Doh! (Hmmm...wrong reference, too!) And finally, not so important, but to me the theory about Brian the dog seems a bit deep for Family Guy. They do pick on religion a lot, but it's always pretty superficial. Plus, anthropomorphic animals are nothing new to cartoons. Personally I think they just thought that a dog being smarter than anyone else in the house would be amusing. Of course, you have your take on it, and that's fine too... I just never saw that myself. Anyway, on to much better SW related TV, we hope! -Lala

I enjoyed the Robot Chicken one, as did my son. They toned down a lot, though, knowing kids would be watching. Still a couple of situations...

You do have to take into account that it was retelling Star Wars using the Family Guy characters...including the creepy old neighbor that has a thing for Chris.
But, Peter's "original" father, (as opposed to the fat one) would have been better.
