Go Acal! And Siri! What a great business.... I know my hubby is still very fond of the man from our hometown who sold and rented band instruments. I think he briefly took guitar lessons from him. He - the musician, that is - passed away a few years ago, but hubby always remembered him. It's a great way to change a child's life for the better and have a truly positive impact on the world.

eSome goodnews here.
After a lifetime it seems I been struggling on things I was reading over the catalog for my college. If I pass my geography of the southeast class I discovered that I will have a minor in geography. This seems so awesome to me because I will also be only 2 classes short also of having my major in history. Now if I can just recieve my degree in secondary education I will be set. But this to me is got me on cloud nine I just wanted to tell everyone in my true family outside my mom and dad the good news.
I just want too thank my family meaning you guys and gals being behind me and you know I love everyone of you. Also I want to espcially thank my parents for helping me. I also want to thank my heavenly father for being behind with me all the way. As soon as I obtain my degree I am going to rub my degree in someones face who told me when I was little I would never amount to anything and say look here I have a degree you jerk.

I finally got a good picture of my family last night at my brother's 30th birthday party!!! I always try to take them at holidays and they are always so 'stiff' looking I didn't have the in laws in the picture and no grandkids were there...so it's just my parents, brothers, sister & I ;D

Congratulations Orion! I know how you feel, my friend, going part time I still have a couple of years to go for my degree.. but even with all the hard work and emotional rollercoaster, it will be just about the best thing you've ever done for yourself. I'm looking forward to your post saying that you've applied for graduation!

Congrats, Orion, that's awesome news!
Thanks, Siri, for your enthusiastic help and for the nice mention here. I'm (sort of) recovered from my big week at work, and instrument requests are still trickling in. I'm really glad that I have a job that I love! It makes the long hours worth it. It's so cool to see the kids excited about music. One little girl had her brother announce Thursday night that she was going to get to be a "violin star"-he was jealous. Isn't that great?

Good work, Orion. Continue in that direction. The degree is worth it!
acal: it IS wonderful to have work you love. It is so sad to see music eliminated from schools with budget cuts. It really made a difference in my life and I learned much more than music. I had the same teacher from 4th through 12th grades and learned many life lessons as well has how to play the flute!
siri: wonderful family photo!

Kai, you are absolutely right! I have no idea where I would be right now if I hadn't been given the opportunity to join orchestra in 4th grade. Certainly not here with you guys! (Orchestra helped nudge me out of my PAINFULLY shy self.) I learned so much more than how to count and play the right notes on the cello!
I'm also very fortunate to know that involvement in music has kept at least three of my students alive. Each of them told me that if they hadn't been able to express their emotions through their playing, they would have attempted something much more drastic and permanent. What a gift music can give us, and the next generations. These three are all thriving adults now with exciting families and careers. I know a Jedi does not feel pride, but I still smile when I think about my "kids"!
These well-adjusted young people surely are worth more than saving a few dollars in a budget, right?

;D GREAT NEWS ;D Orion You CAN do it & you will because you really want to DO IT. That is the important thing & then living your life to the fullest.
Very nice family photo Siri, ;D
;D Great going Acal. I can't play anything, I used to attempt a piano----many many many years ago. I do own a keyboard if I ever can figure out when to get it out to play on it.
Well I'll get to ;D enjoy myself this weekend & dress Jedi at least 2x's. I know Quicher has told me to wear it when we go out to dinner on Saturday. Still not sure which one I'll be in. Then again on Sunday with my family. This old Jedi is going to be getting older but one thing is for sure she still acts a whole lot younger & very happy ;D to be so, thanks to TJA.

As of yesterday I am officially a technical writer! I have been editing and updating other people's documents for months, but yesterday we (that is, our business unit) finally sent our new web app with my very own, first-thing-ever written-completely-by-me, user guide out to the customer. Something that I have written will be in every Dept of Labor office in every state, sitting on a shelf and collecting dust and being completely ignored, like every other user guide ever put to paper. But THIS one is mine! (Ummm.... just a little excited... hehehee)
