Congratulations on the new place!
So, if the bases aren't in the bathroom now, where are they?

Ok, so today with my paycheck, I get a letter from the corporate office, well, I've worked at the store for more than 12 years, so not long ago there was a corporate shakeup, we were more or less taken over, most of which doesn't really affect us, though we got raises awhile after it happened, well the letter now says we're getting PAID VACATIONS, SICK DAYS, PERSONAL DAYS AND PAID HOLIDAYS! Before this you had to be a salaried (read fool, no overtime, weeks up to 80 hrs. 6 days a week, open to close etc.) to get those. If they start giving medical insurance I'll be certain that the world is coming to an end!

I got my Circut breaker check in the mail yesterday and after paying some bills and getting food and gas with it, I got the button studs I needed for my Jedi belt I am working on and also some pouches for the belt too! I am hoping to finish it and have some pictures taken of me in the JEdi costume I am working on...I have two actually.....
I hope to get it on here soon for inspection...

Perks like that are nice. Have a nice time, Nova!
There was a tree .... a big slash pine, maybe 70 ft tall, in the empty lot behind my apartment, right at the fence of my yard. It leaned more than 10 degrees and was a lawsuit waiting to happen. Two certified letters from me to the out-of-state owner of the lot finally got it cut down.
They did the absolute minimum, leaving 5 ft of stump and the tree is just lying there in the lot in the weeds. But it's down and not going to fall on me.

Well, at least it will make a nice home for some little creatures and compost itself into the ground, in time. But the best news is that it can't fall on you in the next storm.

Since the owner obviously doesn't care, maybe someone who wants it for firewood would cut it up and take it away?

The bad news, my oldest serger is really on it's way to the great sewing machine resting grounds, it still runs great, but it's getting way to testy, the good news is that I've found a couple of used ones, same brand and almost the same model as my 1st, one is just for parts that are no longer available, 1 is a single needle does beautiful pearl edge sticth, 1 is almost mint, and the last is being shipped, but is a lightly used version of the same model I refuse to give up! My original cost about a month's pay when I bought it, the bunch of used ones cost a fraction of that, 2 of them cost more for shipping than they did to buy them. Since I use them to work, this is a huge relief, short of an industrial, nothing else does quite what this one does.

Congratulations on getting perks and benefits, Nova! This July is my 15th service anniversary, and getting perks like paid time off is still one of the best perks that my company offers.

To right on that! To bad I can't use it for DCon, but there's a blackout from 8/1-11/1 every year, can't think why, Halloween season of course. It was great to come back from the UK last month and not be flat broke. I can be sick during DCon.... I can use the vacation pay for the trip after Halloween, I'll need a vacation then.

Aaaaaah, yes, the DragonCon illness. Comes by every year - very reliable.
And that old pine tree is still lying in the ever-increasing weeds. Apparently pine trees around here make lousy firewood -- too much sap. So, no one would want it for that. The county property appraiser here has all their records online, including property value and price at last sale -- according to that, the out-of-state owner of that pine tree's weedy empty lot bought it when the market was high and the value has gone down considerably since then. I guess that's why they did the minimum.
