I have it, we decided ahead of time that anything won, which we didn't think we would win anything, would go to me as the costume maker.... It's really an inconsiderate prize to give at a convention, since a lot of people travel to get there.... DUH! Something that would fit into a suitcase or could be held in your lap would have been more appropriate... it may very well be valuable, but that isn't the point... it's the lack of THOUGHT on the part of Lucasfilm that bothers me... But I'm still proud of us and of my costumes! I was thinking the same thing. Why a bike? That's an odd prize. Well, it IS a Star Wars bike.... but still.... we got a box from the local bike shop and I'm going to wrap it up and pack it away for a while... If I ever get a Star Wars room I'll hang it from the ceiling... LOL

Good news? Good news for me is that my son Anthony (8th grade) got accepted into the high school of visual and performing arts! It's a magnet school.. hard to get in! But he did it! Yay! Problem is that his friends' partents are disappointed that Ant will not be going to the same school as their sons... all his friends. Not sure what to do... keep him with frinds or send him to the school that I think will benefit him as na artist... High school makes all the difference!

Great news with the car, Cronto! All right, Leda! I'd personally pick the hard-to-get-into school. There's always e-mail, snail mail, etc. to stay connected. YIPPEE! I start Location Shooting on my FanFilm on Saturday!

My view has always been, Good Kid will Make Good Friends ... Give him the chance to feed his talent.
My 2 youngest switched schools this year ... their friends parents did not understand why ... but mt sons GPA have jumped a full point because the school has filled their needs.
My 2 credits ... FWIW ...

thanks for the input... it does make sense to do what's in the child's best interest, I think, desoite what parents of other kids may think.
We have our scheduling meeting later this month!

I agree, send him to the Magnet School. Ana had the same problem! The Magnet School wasn't as varried in ethnicity as the Rahway High School was. My bro and sis-in-law thought this was an issue since they want their kids to be worldy and accepting. My advice to Ana was that College, and the world itself, is varied enough. Plus, she had eight years of diversity in grammar school and it was a good thing! Get a good education if that's what you want, and so what if everyone there is mostly in your social class and all that? That too is part of life!!! Then, lo and behold, she got to go to Hong Kong for two years to study, and well, it was quite diverse!!!
Anthony will either part ways with his friends now or in four years. At least now they will all live close by and so forth. He probably needs the better education there more than seeing his friends everyday!!

If he's even slightly considering a career in the arts someday, go with the arts school now! This may be just the edge he will need in competing for a job later in life. My 2 cents as a musician and a teacher...

Probably donated by a local sponser. Our store sponsers alot of the local things and we donate merchandise as prizes, sometimes gift certificates, you'll probably find that there is an ad in the program for a store that donated it. Good job on the costumes, you all look great.

Good job on the costumes, you all look great. Actually it came directly from Lucasfilm.... it was the "Lucasfilm Award" We got an empty box from a local bike shop and packed it away wrapped in sheets... someday after I'm dead my grandsons, or great grandsons will open the box and say, "what the heck is this?" I am envious of my friends Jedi garb I made for her... it's time for me to get a new tunic... too bad you can't see her suedecloth robe billowing out behind her as she walked... maybe I need a new robe, too... ;D ;D

Well you could donate it to a needy kid. Maybe Lucasfilm's staff goofed, sent the wrong prize to the wrong show.

Leda, that's fabulous for Anthony. I'd have to say he'll benefit more from the school, and that type of school is very hard to get into, and if anything harder to stay in, they really have to work, as the academics are usually at a high level as well.
