Why are they called "S foils"? I thought it was because when they are open, the wings make the shape of an elongated S (i.e. the top left one and the bottom right one would be one S foil)

I guess you would have to ask George why he called them S-foils. My guess is that it just sounds more futuristic than merely calling them wings.  Ahhh... that would be consistent with his line in AOTC, "I'm good at fixing things." It would also be consistent with his character flaw of being a control freak; wanting everything to done his way and as he sees fit.

Y aint u got the E-wing on there?! Its the best d**n ship! Its got 3 blaster cannons, twin proton torpedo tubes, faster than a A-Wing, plus it uses a R7 unit, and it looks great.
Out of the choices, tho, id go 4 a Naboo N1 starfighter
