I put ROTJ on to practice wookie sounds to -- not sure if I'd actually do it in public, but if you ever want to try doing creature noises, it works much better with the original sound playing.
So, I'm looking at the final scenes and suddenly see the same 4 elements going on in Ep 6 that were in Ep 1:
-- Big space battle where something big has to be blown up to win -- Hi-tech/Low-tech battle on the planet with overly cute low-tech good guys -- High level mission on the planet that the battle is providing cover for -- Light vs. Dark side Jedi confrontation
I really like seeing these full circle things going on with the prequels and the originals. And no wonder Obi-Wan thought that Luke would only defeat the emperor in a fight; that's how he destroyed Sith in the old days. It's to Luke's credit that he found his own way.

Don't forget that the end parade theme in TPM is a sped up rendition of the Emperor's theme. Oh the irony...

I never realized that about the parade music, but now that I play it back inside my head, I hear it. Makes sense since Palpy originates from Naboo. For all we know, that parade song could be the planetary anthem or something, and the Emperor's theme is just an evil version of it, showing Palpatine's twisted Patriotism.

Wow! I never thought of it that way! Good call! There is a cool sound parallel as well: at the end of Ep I during the beginning of the parade sequence, you can hear a man's voice yelling: "The son of suns! Son of the Suns!" At the end of Ep VI during the celebration sequence when it shows Coruscant, the same identical voice can be heard saying the same Son of Suns lines. There has been some debate as to the meaning of this: During Ep I "The Son of Suns" is Anakin- Anakin destroyed the control ship and saved Naboo. Son of the Suns refers to the fact he was from Tatooine (which orbits two suns). Now in Ep VI "The Son of Suns" could still be Anakin as he was the one to throw the Emperor down the reactor shaft ending the Sith's domination of the galaxy. Or it could be Luke as he was from Tatooine as well and was the one to convinced his father to defeat the Emperor. Kevin

Ah yes, "Son of the Suns". How could I forget that? It's the name of my website!
Anyway, since I'm all Anakin all the way I like to think of that sound referring to him in ROTJ. Afterall, Luke may have brought him to that point but Anakin is the one who destroyed Sidious.

Thought of another one: Episode 1- Maul is killed and falls down the "bottomless" shaft... Episode 6- Palpatine is thrown down the reactor shaft. The "bottomless pit" can be seen throughout the series: Episode 4- the Death Star tractor beam control scene Episode 5- Luke falls down the Bespin reactor shaft Episode 6- The Emperor is thrown down the reactor shaft Episode 1- Maul falls down the reactor shaft Episode 2- Obi Wan and Anakin falling though the skies of Coruscant. The day they stop putting lightsaber fights over precarious drops is the day I'll stop watching em ;D (You have to admit, the location of the theed palace power room is a little convenient )

There are tons of things like that in the series. The Death Star is the worst offender. Consider this: What is the point of having a control center hanging over an immense drop without as much as a railing to stop you from falling to your death? For that matter, if the Death Star uses artificial gravity, then why have the gravity "on" in those sections with the abyss like drops? Guess they figure they can always make more clones if a few fall to their deaths. Of course the real reason is to create drama and suspense for the audience. Kevin
