This is the big question that I've been thinking about for quite awhile now, who plans to continue costuming after the rush of ROTS dies down?
Personally I'll do it for as long as I can. It's the only real hobby I have and I enjoy it. However, I fear that many will drop it altogether once the excitment of the final film fizzles down.
I know that things change over time, but what's everyones' current plans for this? Will you wear your Jedi boots until you're the last one doing it in the tri-state area or will you hang your robes up for good after 2005?

I'll keep 'em. There's always Halloween. Plus there'll still be excitement when Kevin Smith gets the TV series up and running. And eventually George will cave and do Ep 7,8,9. There will likely also be EU type movies, sort of like the Ewok movies, except they could deal with the KOTOR type stuff, young Yoda, the list goes on of what could be done when George finally gives up.

;D I'm stying with Jedi costuming! ;D There was a rumor at DragonCon that GL wanted to do the 3 other movies after RotJ, but he didn't want to direct. Gl was supposedly going to approach Steven Spielberg to direct. I won't hang up my Jedi Robe after May 19th......ever. Anyway we have to do the IMAX RotS events at the end of the year, still.

I have been doing costumes for science fiction conventions for -- (shudder) -- 26 years now. It just happens that my first efforts were Star Trek and Star Wars costumes. Star Trek is out of fashion now, but I still have my Starfleet uniforms; and I'm very pleased that I still fit into them, even the miniskirt from the original series. They're still availlable for the odd occassion. Star Wars will inevitably be out of fasshion sometime, and I will likely be doing other types of costumes then, but I will still be a Jedi when the occassion arises. Many costumers start out in science fiction costumes and move to historical recreation, SCA, furry fandom, ballroom dancing or whatever. Or sometimes they start in SCA and move into historical re-enactment or SF. Right now there is a HUGE amount of youth and energy in anime conventions and costuming and there's a lot of discussion on the International Costumers' Guild list about maybe convincing some of them to bring some of that anime energy into the regular SF conventions and refresh the ranks of graying fandom. And maybe a few of them will be lured into other forms as costuming in the future as well. The International Costumer' Guild website is at: www.costume.org

I wouldn't hold my breath--I only think he did the prequels finally after all these years due to money.
I do all sorts of costuming. First scifi, then Star Trek, Star Wars (I did and had Leia's costume one month after ANH (wig and all), and been doing others since from Babylon 5 to Farscape to original ideas to historical. I keep my costumes for other times and assume Star Wars will drop down for the next fave in scifi costuming as that has always happened. JMD

I'm certainly not holding my breath for 7,&9. But I do hope the TV show materializes.
I intend to keep wearing my Jedi garb at any opportunity.

Oh I will not be retiring my garb. Star Wars will still be around. TV series is coming up possibly, plus there will be a travelling musuem exhibit touting the "Science of Star Wars" in 2007 (if I remember correctly). Plus there are still all sorts of cons. Books and comics will still be around for a while. "Star Wars" will not die, and neither will my fandom.

DOH!! There's the Star Wars Museum Exhibit! ;D It'll be coming to Boston (or Bahston as the locals say it ) in October 2005. I'm definitely going to see that. At SuperMegaFest this past November we met one of the museum people was telling us that she actually went to Skywalker Ranch to take a tour and see all the props that were in storage there. I guess they were there to see what LFL would donate for the Museum Exhibit. I HAVE to go to this exhibit in costume!

Yes, I've heard about that... I'm so looking forward to seeing it. I've been to the Boston Museum of Science and it's really well done. They had an R2D2 when I went. Everyone always asks me what I'm going to do after Episode 3! I just say, "Well what did the deadheads do after Jerry died?" ...not sure.... what did they do?

As far as I'm concerned, I'll still be a Jedi after ROTS. I'll wear my costume anywhere for any occasion... There'll always be future cons, and as was said Halloween.

Amen...I will continue to do Star Wars costuming....and will hold on to all of my stuff...
Personally...I think there will always be opportunities...not as many, perhaps....but I have done a whole bunch of different costume events this year....and not all of them were exclusively Star Wars....
I will continue to be a Jedi.... ;D
