I found this while reading through the Databank on the official site: POSSIBLE SPOILER maybe somewhat
"In light of this storied record of heroism, it is all the more tragic then that he should be responsible, in part, for the fall of the Jedi and the Republic. He would later say it was his successes that fueled the pride that would trigger his own downfall, and the loss of his student."
What is the most shocking is that it came from the profile of Obi-Wan.

Interesting... I just went and read the whole profile.
Anakin Skywalker was one of many casualties of that darkness. Obi-Wan incorrectly believed that he could train Anakin as skillfully as the revered Yoda. He would later admit that he was wrong. His arrogance had grave consequences for the galaxy. Anakin Skywalker succumbed to the temptations of the dark side, and was reborn as a Dark Lord of the Sith.
So Anakin was right when he said "It's all Obi-Wan's fault!"

Yeah.... that works... I blame Jar Jar!
I think I had read that too that Obi-Wan blamed himself...
but my conclusion has always been that Anakin could NOT be trained...by anyone ....including Yoda...
Sadly....the real blame probably falls on Qui-Gon....Obi-Wan was just fulfilling his promise to his master....

Doesn't Obi-Wan say in ROTJ that he blames himself for Vader?

Yes he does... and it was Jar Jar's fault... or does that make it Qui-Gon's fault for picking up Jar Jar in the first place?

Was just talking about this with friends at a Con this weekend.....leaping off the precipice into speculation.
I thought that if Qui-Gon left Anakin behind, the Sith would have eventually found him anyway. That was Qui-Gon's arguement for training him.

If Palpatine is as string as he says he says, I believe he could sense Anakin. Maybe Yoda could as well, but to a different degree. Maybe Palpatine also could sense vulnerablity

I always said if Qui-Gon had the teaching of Anakin things would have been different, but Obi-Wan had voiced in TPM about Anakin and all. I think he just took on the resposiblilty of Master cause his Master asked. And I always said, since the Trilogy when I was younger and the prequels haven't changed my mind, but made it more so, that he is arrogant, too arrogant. JMD

I did say Jar Jar was evbil and a part of the 501st0--AOTC just vindicated that. But, I do believe that if Yoda or Qui-Gon had the teaching things would be different. I really think Obi-Wan deep down inside didn't want to teach Anakin and I thinks this shows to Anakin. Honestly, I don't think Obi-wam is Master material. It's like I could never, ever be a mechanic or an artist, not me. A jedi knight, yeah, Obi-wan is that, but not a master. And in long run Obi-Wan realizes it, but too late to change things for the better. And that's a part of his arrogance too. Guess he's too human, would be the word, not infallible. And deep down i understand him better for it. No hero is a superhero--not really. JMD

The thing with Obi-Wan and Anakin is that Obi-Wan also was too young to have such a string student. It would be like graduating from high school and then having to teach a college-level class. He had no prior experience with a Padawan, so made mistakes. If Anakin had been his third or fourth Padawan, I think thngs may have gone totally different.
