My family has a Halloween party like 2 weeks before halloween So I wore my Jedi Gear of course well before we got to the hall we ate at Papa Gino`s in a mall and walked around a little , my son had his garb on too. some people said "hey it"s not halloween yet" ,lol Then upon getting to the hall at UCONN campus, I was elected to put balloons at the end of the road so the rest of the gang could find the hall. Well this car drove by and yelled "Hey Obi-Wan" That put me in my glory ! Then I was again elected to get dinner from a Sub-way on campus walking in in full garb got me some looks and smiles one lady just stared at my saber then looked me up and down so I bowed to her and told her to go ahead of me lol

Well, Monday night & tuesday I did a couple of things for DVD day & as usual, I just got dressed and wore the costume, and as usual in NYC got only a few strange looks from a couple of tourists, when I'm in costume here I just go about my usual day, get on buses and go about town, have lunch in a resturant, come to the internet cafe and post to the boards and so on. The best time at Virgin Mega was at Times Sq. on Tuesday in the early afternoon, the whole gang of us went out front of the store, so there we were, Vader, troopers, both Storm & Rebel, a couple of Leias, a Padme Ep III, a couple of rebel Pilots and a few Jedi, we caused aso many people to stop for pictures and just to gawk that a couple of Policemen came and told us we had to go back inside because we were causing a traffic jam and were blocking pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk, we really did look cool all together like that. I did overhear a couple of the managers saying that we really had increased the sales way beyond what they thought they would do. I kept joking with the people whenever they came over to the display I qwould wave my hand like doing the Jedi mind trick and say something like "you know you want to buy them" indeed, it worked most of the time. They gave us some stickers and a nice promo iron on for the DVD release. The cool thing about the theatre being open again is, I might be able to watch them on our big LCD screen between shows sometimes, we watch movies between shows on matinee days. The sound and picture are really great, and I know that a few of us want to see them.

Here's an amusing tidbit:
Last summer I had to go to court to fight a reckless driving charge, and though I did not wear my Jedi costume, I did wear a pair of brown dress pants with boots (inside) and a nice jacket that looks just like a Jedi tunic. For some weird reason I had more confidence when it was my turn. I just pretended that I was standing before the Jedi council explaining what happened on my last mission. It really worked. I won and they removed the points.
Well you know the saying: "Clothes make the Jedi"! LOL!!!

Did you wave your fingers in front of the Judge's eyes and say " You will side with me" ?

Heheh... I thought about it afterward!
It's funny though, how something like that can make you feel different, and that little bit of difference (no matter how crazy it sounds) can make you project a slightly more confident image/aura/air... whatever you want to call it. And subtlties like that can have the power to change someones first impression of you, among other things.

Well, I've worn my robes to work, for no reason and to Starbucks, mostly for fun, I tend to carry my lightsaber everywhere...

Lazlo: Wow! How do you carry your lightsaber everywhere? Do you just wear it on your belt?
Now, THAT's Jedi, for you!

Since I am mad most of the time, most people I know just figure it an affectation...
Then again guts is a four-letter-word to some people...

Heheh--- yeah. I get odd looks just for wearing the jewelery I wear. I have a Space Shuttle charm that I wore on a neckchain for a long time after Columbia crashed, and also a Lunar Lander Charm that people always think is a spider. Somehow I think they would find the spider to be more mainstream.

Yeah, it's pretty bad when it's more popular to be a spider-loving weirdo than a sci-fi science-loving geek...
What has the workd come to?

Well,
One Saturday after a Comic/Sci-Fi Con, I went to a local mall that was literally across the street from convention center in my Jedi Costume. I was only there for about 15 minutes before mall security came up to me and said I had to leave. They said they don't allow costumes in the mall except during Halloween, and for mall sanctioned events. They also said I am not allowed to carry weapons into the mall. When I asked what they ment by weapons, they pointed to my lightsaber. I laugh my arse off, and told him he was an absolute complete moron. I told him it was a freaking Star Wars Lightsaber prop made out of a camera flash tube. and was empty inside. And that I had just come over from the convention that was across the street to do some shopping before I went home. I was going to Borders to find a book. I told him I was not leaving until I was finished with my shopping. I turned and walked away from him. He then proceed to grab my arm to try and escort me out. I warned him if he did not remove his hand he would regret it immediately. I told him he did not have the authority to touch me, and that I would sue the living daylights out of him for assult and battery. I then walked away from him again. Mind you I did have my brother and three outher friends with who witnessed this. Well security called the police. The cops came up to me, and asked my side of the story, I told him, and my witness backed me up. I showed the cops my lightsaber, and they said, yes, it WAS NOT a weapon. He then asked where I got it, and where he could get one. I told him I make them and would be happy to show him the ones I had in my car. The officer told mall security they could not expell me from the mall and to leave my alone to shop. Afterwards the cop came over to my car and I showed him my lightsabers. He bought one from right then and there. He said he was a huge Star Wars fan. So I sold him a saber for $120.00. The cop then told me if I have any more problems with mall security to call him, and he would take care of it.
Sometimes it pays off to be a Sci-Fi Geek.
