The word this last weekend at the Collectors Expo is that C4 will be in 2007 to coincide with the 30 year anniversary of Episode 1.
Despite what some people think, Las Vegas is a very FAMILY FRIENDLY place to hold C4. It's not an adults only vacation spot any more.
Las Vegas is known as the convention capital of the United States. And for good reason. San Diego would be a good location but Vegas has the facilities to meet any need identified by George Lucas.

Thanks for pointing out my obvious math error. I meant to say-to coincide with the 30th. anniversary of the first StarWars movie.

I kept comparing how poorly the crowds were handled at CIII to how well they were handled at ComicCon. One difference is that Comiccon HIRES people to tend lines, rather than depending largely upon volunteers. I've suspected GenCon wanted to improve their profit margin by using more volunteers than paid staff. Another difference, ComicCon is NONPROFIT.
I might actually go if the ComicCon organization ran it.

Cold.........I not only wore the wooly Jedi robe, I had on the Qui-Gon style poncho, too, it was so cold. That was one time when you really used all the many layers of the Jedi outfit.

You're right there. Everything needed to be worn & it was still very wet & cold. It definitely wasn't Tatooine.

The people I was in line with gave me gloves to wear for a bit. My hands started to turn purple and it was getting to the point of not being able to use them.
But I did see a princess leia slave girl out there too! I thought she was insane.

I couldn't understand why people were waiting in the rain at cold at CIII. There were plenty of hotels across the street you could have waited in until after 10am. All of them had a Starbucks and it would have been a heck of a lot warmer. Unfortunately I have never thought of Las Vegas as "family friendly" and their latest advertising camapign is definitely geared towards grown-ups. On the plus side they do have the facility space, although Creation uses the Hilton on-site space for their Star Trek conventions. George Lucas likes Comic-Con and San Diego. They showed the first trailer for Ep IV at Comic-Con in 1976. And Steve Sansweet had told me at the end of CIII that the next convention would be in 2007; I guess I sort of assumed everyone knew that because it is the 30th Anniversary of Ep IV. At least we know there will be a CIV and it's in 2007 - regardless of where the location will be.

Thats a good thing. I don't know what I would do if we couldn't have anymore star wars cons.
*shudders at the thought*

I see many things through the force... A Star Wars convention in the future... large crowds... my money disappears at every turn...
I see a city with a great stone arch and a mighty river adjacent to it...a vast convention center, with no mention of snow or Mini-Marathon runners...
The name I see is not San Diego, no, another saint.. Saint Louis!!!
My friends will be there, --I must go to them! They're in misery...no, wait... THEY'RE IN MISSOURI!!!
(funny thing about the force...it shows you the truth, whether you see it or not!)

I've never been to a Celebration but I'll be at C4 no matter where it is.

Latest rumor I've heard is that Gen-Con is again contracted to run CIV. That means I won't be going unless there is some announcement that they've learned their lessons from their poor managemnet of the last one!
