C3 may not have been a perfect or good convention for many but it was my 1st time & C3 is what got me started in Jedi costuming. I've seen the movies & at the time I went I liked Star Wars. I've read the books & have a Star Wars collection. But in going to C3, meeting people in the Fan Room seeing all the Star Wars costumes & meeting the celebrities--C3 gave me an incentive to be part of something bigger then myself. Otherwise I might never have known anything about The Jedi Assembly or other fan clubs & costumers. Now I have a full canon Jedi costume which I love to wear & I'm going to other events & I owe all of this to being at & seeing C3 despite its shortcomings.

I was unable to attend CIII because at the time I was still recovering from a life threatening illness which I'm happy to say now I am fully recovered. I felt really bad about not being able to go especially since I only live a couple of hours away from Indy. But I heard that CIII was alot of fun from alot of my friends who went.
I've attended alot of different conventions like the Creation Entertainment Hercules/Xena Conventions, Toronto Trek and Syndicon; And I've worked at quite few of these cons. Sure cons are about seeing the stars and getting autographs, buying merchandise from the dealers rooms, etc. But it's also about seeing and meeting friends that you may have corresponded with online and meeting new people, making new friends.
I think someonelse here said it best your convention experience is what you make out to be. If you go in with a positive attitude your experience will be a happy and positive one with many wonderful memories; Trust me If you go in with a bad attitude then your experience will be a bad one.
I've heard that CIV will happen in 2007 but that a location and a venue haven't been named yet.

mooooooooooooo moooooooooo....
ok, with that out of the way....Xeco,we are sorry you had a bad time and if calling us stinking bovines makes you feel justified in your behavior.....then so be it.....
now......with having gotten that off my chest... This was my first big con, but being here and talking with everyone for a few years made my transition easier. I roomed with 3 great members here and I now consider them my sisters. I flew by myself for the first time in 35 years, to Indy and I was very nervous at being alone. I felt isolated until I got to our room and met everyone. I knew I had to make the best of the trip because it cost me alot of money to go as it did everyone else...not to mention a 4 hour wait at the airport going home with no one to talk to...very lonely I was....well, with the exception of sitting next to Ray Parks and family and one of the kids from Harry Potter for about 30 minutes.....
I was at the volunteer table alot of time because I didn't want to just wander around and I felt I was most comfortable and helpful there. I don't think I snubbed you though. I don't think I snubbed anyone. I was excited to see all members of the Assembly. If I in anyway snubbed you, then I deeply apologize.*insert shamless excuse here* My feet must have been hurting that day....
There was so much going on at CIII and I missed 90% of it. I refused to stand in any lines, especially the store. I was a volunteer and I didn't know of half the perks I had because it was the first time I had done it... (and the one thing I did purchase was broken when I got home ), so I used the 4 days to get out and meet as many people as I could from all 3 of the organizations. I volunteered and had a great time despite all the the horrible unorganization. I made the trip what I wanted it to be and I had fun..... I went up to strangers from the 501st and the RL and I introduced myself and they were very friendly to me, all of them recognizing my username. Of course I tend to have that kind of personality, so it is easy for me.....
We are a great group and the longer you hang around (I noticed your low post count) the more you will like us. Please don't judge us to harshly. CIII was a mess. I can safely say that many of our 3 organizations felt the same way you did and we all made the best of it and I still do not regret going in the least. I got out of it what I put in it and I shall do it again. Hang around here and get in on the discussions for the next big shindig and room with some folks here and volunteer if you want to...I garrantee it will be much better next time......
ok, I'm done...I'll go now.....
*disclaimer*......I, in no way intended to offend anyone.....

I second what Grey Jedi, Ani-Chay Pinn and Em have said. I, too, felt I spent a lot of money and got into all but nothing of the Con events. The ONLY thing I got to see was the costume exhibit. But working at the table was actually fun, most of the time.
Yes, our goal with the table was to publicize the group. It was a very rare opportunity.
I remember talking with you but it might have been away from the TJA table. I'm sorry if you felt you were snubbed at the table. I know my time there was often very busy. I didn't get as much of a chance to talk to members as I was busy with the raffle and talking with people asking questions. Perhaps you stopped by the table at a particularly stressful time as we were also running the raffle and that got rather hectic.

lol..... Yeah Em....you did have great roomies...the BEST roomies....
..lol
runs....
and feet....oh...you mean those two bloodied stumps I brought home with me that vaguely resembled feet?....
And....by the last day....no one was "fresh as a daisy" anymore....we got no sleep, little to eat, and plenty of frustration...... sigh... I would not have missed it for the world!
And....I too bought nothing really....I came home with my Celebration III Volunteer shirt (my "red badge of courage) and a Celebration III Vader that one of my collector group picked up for me....

I am pretty sure that Lucas won't let the next one be run by the same people.....I hope not...they should get the same company that does Dragon Con....

A couple of my favorite stories were meeting the TJA members for the first time... as when Em checked into the room....I was hiding behind the door and scared the bejesus out of her...
Also....I will not forget the first time I met you in person, Xana..... I was in my Imperial Officer costume and volunteering at the Will Call on Wednesday afternoon of CIII....I got a flurry of people come to the side of my workstation and the first words from Xana will always stay with me...
"She does exist"......lol....

Hey, we're pushing for San Diego in 2007. Already talked to Steve Sansweet and Mary Franklin about it. Steve said something about Vegas but I don't consider that a family-friendly environment.
Mary would LOVE to have it in San Diego. The Comic-Con organizers know how to handle large crowds. This year the con had around 90,000 to 100,000 attendees.
So start chanting....San Diego, San Diego, San Diego...
;D

I think San Diego would be a good idea as well. I wouldn't want to go to vegas for something like that.. It wouldn't feel.....right.
