I highly doubt that Star Wars is a christain movie, seeing as how my local church has CONDEMNED it. That's right completely denounced it. I believe that the actual phrasing went along the lines of it teaches false ideas and condones Budism (sp?). After the preacher got that far, I stopped listening. Mom now wonders why I choose not to attend that particular church, LOL. I'm not surprised. I've read about people who criticize "The Chronicles of Narnia" because it has magic and pagan symbols in it. That's despite the fact that most people regard it as a Christian allegory. no regarding needed there. C.S. Lewis plainly stated that it was an allegory of Christ.

Ahem...I'm glad you said 'some' and not 'all'... I'd certainly never say that all Christians were *long string of expletives* just as I'd never be ignorant enough to say that all Muslims were fanatical terrorists, despite the fact that the most ignorant and closed-minded people I've ever encountered, have been either very devout, or born again Christians. However, I put that down to failings in them as individuals, and do not judge the rest of the group by the shortcomings of a few. I would wonder what they were being "ignorant" or "closed-minded" about. Just about everyone, everywhere will fall into those two categories on some point or another. We need to base our lives on something, find purpose and meaning somewhere. Religion is mankind's attempt to do just that....there are many common themes as well as many (and wide) differences among them. the many and varied experiences of my life have led me to place my Trust and Faith in Christ and His Teachings, not any particular religion. Many "religions" name the name of Christ without following Him closely. I do not condemn others for what I believe to be false faith. I pray for them.

Bingo Tenric, That's the way to go. w'er not to be nasty or confrontational.(not wimps either, a balance.):-D Even Jesus/Yeshua didn't condem those of a differant faith. He learned hardest on the "religious' people who were religious in name only

However, I put that down to failings in them as individuals, and do not judge the rest of the group by the shortcomings of a few. --------------- Very true, there's always some bozo who makes the rest of us look BAD because they don't use their head. :-( That's why it's extremely important that wisdom and love be in the mix, it's great to be passionate but NOT great to be UNFOCUSED with it. So if a person is either BEING ignorant or acting such, they'er probably not applying the knowledge they were suppossed to have sought and defiantly not using some wisdom. For the record, I'm a hard core born again christian. (Booyah);-) But I'm positive you guys see I act a wee bit differantly then the 'fire from the hip without looking' variety. I've Great passion but it's tempered with wisdom, knowledge, understanding and most importantly love ----------- Alsan fighting Voldimort. Eeek, that'd get ugly REAL fast. Aslan would have 'em for lunch. ---------------- I'm not an HP fan, but I refuse to condem those who DO like Harry Potter. (I did read a few of the books and see the movies just tos ee what the hubbub was about.Ya know playing Quidditch takes some serious athletisim and cordination. Looks fun. ) My night blindness and lacl of 3d depth perception makes viewing scenes with dark lighting really difficult. The Harrison Ford movie from the 80's I consistantly sleep through.(Can't see it I sleep.<snicker>) Exactly, the actions of the majority are what matter, but sadly, it's the crackpot few that get remembered

I would wonder what they were being "ignorant" or "closed-minded" about. People different in some way to them, with different lifestyle choices or attitudes. I don't view all Christians to be like them though. I would wonder what they were being "ignorant" or "closed-minded" about. Just about everyone, everywhere will fall into those two categories on some point or another. We need to base our lives on something, find purpose and meaning somewhere. It's funny that you say that, as the experiences in my life have pushed me completely away from Christianity and toward Buddhism and Wicca, but like yourself, I don't condemn others for different beliefs either.
