According to FanForce:
Lucas On The TV Shows Posted By Philip on August 2, 2005 From SCIFI.com: ...... The first series is a 3-D animated Clone Wars series that will be made at Lucas Animation's Singapore facility. He said he'll start scouring Asia for talent and try to build up 3-D animation there....
Hello! No depth perception here....are people who CAN'T process 3-D going to be able to watch this thing?
The news about the TV series sounds more interesting.
...In his proposed Star Wars live-action series, he said: 'We're going do something that would normally cost [$20 million-$30 million] and try to do it for $1 million.' Lucas said he'll shoot the series on a Sony digital camera system that anyone can buy at an electronics store...
Fan film makers take note.

> 3-D animated <
You should have no problem if you can play a computer game. This sounds like a ComGen version, like the movie "Final Fantasy, spirits within". Or any of a number of anime now a days produced on the computer. (Sounds interesting to me) Its the live movies they were talking about, that would have X-wings flying out of the screen. Those you may have problems with, however i remember an old movie, from the 80s i think, called "Destruction of Jared Syn" (not sure on spelling or title), it was 3D but not really 3D.
Of course i could be wrong all the way around, who knows with GL. He could just do Clone Wars the Christmas Special. ... ROFL

I'm not particularly interested in a 3D version of the saga - I don't think it will make the movies any better than they already are

As one who only ha one eye and connot do the whole 3-D experience, I am saddened that Lucas would do this and leave out a segment of the population who willnot be able to enjoy the movies.

I think this is Lucas' way to explore 3-d technology. Also makes sense for his business because it's yet another way to re-release the films.
I'm interested to see the result, but I can live without it. I wish he would put more effort into promoting digital projection technology. There aren't enough theaters using DLP.

I personally think that seeing an X-wing fly out of the screen would be fun (ny)! Not to mention seeing everyone duck when that one podracer flies over their heads! LOL! I may go and see 'em, but only in the theaters. What with two copies of both I and II hanging around the house, (one in VHS, the other DVD) plus the OT DVD boxed set, and probably the PT DVD boxed set, There'll be enough Star wars movies to keep us busy for a long time. Besides, 3D is something that wouldn't be as fun at home.
As to why Lucas is doing it... Either he's a money-hound, or (IMHO) a visionary. He's like a kid who can't enough of playign with a chemistry set.
OK, I'm done.
