I absolutely love Fan Films. They are my Anti-Drug. That's why I decided to start this thread! It's an attempt to start an exchange of ideas, suggetions, and reviews of the art. theforce.net is an excellent source for Fan Films, and I advise that you give them a visit. I'm now going to shift gears into what I hope will be the start of a really keen thread.
I recently viewed three Fan Films. They were Beagle, Legacy of the Jedi, and Versus.
Beagle Nice crossover of Peanuts and Star Wars. It's basically Snoopy reinacting the famous "Trench Run" scene from ANH, Red Baron style. Good family film
Legacy of the Jedi Very good movie. Short and silly. I wont ruin it here, so go download it today!
Versus Amazing piece of work. It' a French flim with subtitles, however that doesnt bother me (or the story) one bit! The first thing "off" I noticed, was the costumes were a bit below par. I quickly forgot about that once the powerful storyline kicked up. 400 some odd megs though, but worth the wait.
So there you have it. Keep it going guys and gals!

Alright people! Its time for another edition of FFFFA! First thing this post, Im gonna post the links to the films reviewed last time. Beagle theforce.net/fanfilms/animation/beagle/index.aspVersus theforce.net/fanfilms/shortfilms/versus/index.aspLeagacy of the Jedi theforce.net/fanfilms/shortfilms/legacy/index.aspNow with that out of the way, I'll move on to today's three! A Question of FaithThis movie is decent. The voice over work is not that great. However it has a nice visual smoothness that lends well to the story. The story is kind of over used and you might recongize that the main plot detail has been featured in a certain movie that came out this year. They do a pretty good job of depicting it though. However there is some night scenery that is shot without to much extra light so you may want to amp up your display brightness a bit. Rating: 3/5 theforce.net/fanfilms/shortfilms/faith/index.aspArt of the SaberThis film is all about the sabers and little to no story line. HOWEVER the story line that is there is quite powerful, seeing as how the only words are the ones read from an authentic American Civil War letter. The saber coreography is absolutely stunning, as the execution of those moves! Kung-Fu thriller plus lightsabers plus a bit of a love story. The only thing that is not totally Star Wars, is the fact that the actors are in plain black earth street cloths. In my opinion that is canceled out 100 times over. Bottom line, if I hadn't have been stunned silent about the saber battle, the story would've had me crying. No joke. Rating:4.5/5 theforce.net/fanfilms/fxprojects/artofthesaber/index.aspContract of EvilTheater grade film! The voice overs are amazing. The location is beautiful. The costumes are detailed. The battles are stunning. The CG makes the ILM guys and gals stare. *takes a breath* But, its all about Sith. Notwithstanding, this is probably the best fan film of any subject, SW or not, I have EVER seen! What are you waiting for? GO DOWNLOAD IT! Rating: 5/5 (easily) theforce.net/fanfilms/shortfilms/contract/

I watched Beagle (which took 2 hours to download, stupid dial-up! ) and LOVED it! But the darn computers' running so slow today, I've pretty much given up on any logner ones... "All I want for Christmas in some DSL...some DSL...some DSL!"

I adore Fan Films and wait eagerly every year for the Star Wars Fan Film Awards at Atom Films www.atomfilms.com/af/spotlight/collections/starwars/?afhomeclicktrack=SPO1My favorites of all time are "Pink Five" (and of course "Pink Five Strikes Back"), Crazy Watto, Sith Apprentice, The Art of the Saber, Ryan vs. Dorkman, Essence of the Force (strictly as a Mt. Dew drinker), and An Empire of One. Oh! And "The Star Wars Gangsta Rap" (original version) To me it seems the shorter they are the better. The longer ones get bogged down in too much story line and too many effects that just don't work out. You must also check out www.starwarsspoofs.com

Sorry, fans! No reviews this week! I have been having ISP problems lately and the speed has been dialed down a notch, it seems. I should mention that I have ADSL which makes downloading fan-films much easier. This week I do have a slight observation that you might or might not have caught if you have watched "Contract of Evil". The first Sith sent to kill Anarkus and Wroth experences a nice close up of his belt. If you look closely at the buckle, you will notice that it is a KLINGON (yep, the Star Trek people) symbol turned upside-down!

I finally downloaded my first FanFilm....an older one called 'Dark Skies'. It was okay, but it made me hungry for more. So naturally when I heard Revelations was out I went nuts. Unfortunately, this is 250 MB. That is a death sentence for dial-up. The entimated time was (get this) over 13 hours! I tried anyway, figuring I could do it overnight. HAH! The dumb thing kicked me off after three hours. I really want to see that movie! Can anyone tell me if it's possible to compress FanFilms with WinZip or something? Either that or find a smaller version or a version with the movie in sections? And why does it seem the movies on TF.N are always huge?

Ladiiiiiiiieeeeeees and gents, after a long hiatus I bring you the third installment of my Fan Film reviews. It's time for another round of FFFFA! This time I've only got one review and it's called: Broken AllegianceOur friends down under have produced a good one here! Costumes, good. Storyline, really good. VFX, out of this world. The acting is really good, a tale tell sign of hours and hours of practice. It's all about two of Darth Vader's famed Dark Side apprenices getting fed up and escaping Courscant. After that Vader sends a dangerous bounty hunter (with a lightsaber and force powers no less) after the escapees. A great fight ensues and there you have the end of a great movie. Now I cant tell the storyline bit of the story here, but just go download it and fill in the blanks. After you get the movie you can also download up to 14 behind the scenes doccumetaries and news clips, including a gag reel and deleted scenes. You can also download audio tracks of DVD style commentary and the whole movie soundtrack. If that's not enough you can even download the original script and check out the information on an unfinished sequel. It's alot of downloading but worth it all 100 fold. 5/5 www.brokenallegiance.net/media/
