Humm, I think qui would've looked bettter w/o the beard, His long hair would've been nicer if he'd put a comb through it.:-) and maybe tie it back with a leather tie. I don't mind if guys have long hair as long at it's not scraggeliy, or dirty, it makes 'em loook like hippies.

You sound lucky.....I would be happy to have a nice guy my age that loves Star Wars as much as I do. Blonde, Brunette or Grey...LOL I am not that picky on hair color anymore. I had a pretty man before and he spent more time in front of the mirror than I did...LOL and he didn't like Star Wars!!!!! So as I said before....A Jedi peace of mind is having someone that loves Star Wars as much as you do.......

Excuse me M'Ladies, but may I say something, too?
Qui-Gon's hair looked scraggly or "not so good" because Liam Neeson had a problem with the glue drying not so right that kept his extensions on his real hair. The glue dried too quickly under the hot studio lights and in the very hot desert and made the hair look like it had flakes on it. He noticed this and when it was brought to the hairdresser's attention she replied that nobody would notice because of all the special effects. I guess somebody did notice!! The long hair and beard are symbols of a male Jedi Knight. When a male Padawan is granted the title of Jedi Knight, it is traditional to have long hair and a beard. I've been growing my hair since the end of August (it has only been trimmed and shaped) so that I look like a Jedi Knight (but no beard). My hair is now collar legnth, is a reddish blonde and is naturally curly/wavy. I have already been told that my hair shouldn't be a certain legnth and that I look better with longer hair than with short hair.
Ahh....Jedi peace of mind...ahhh...well... For me Jedi peace of mind is knowing that whenever you are in trouble, that your Brother and Sister Jedi are ready to stand beside you and always give a helping hand or a helpful word.

Humm, Didn't know that Calaveylon. Although I'm sure some male Knights don't grow the beard. So what's the sigh of a Female Knight? I'm surious. What has been said about the peace of mind, is so true. Jauhzmynn

The sign of a Female Jedi Knight is the honesty, loyality, dedication, determination when you look into her eyes.

Well said, emerita.
From the films and the Visual dictionaries, there doesn't appear to be any outward sign of rank among female Jedi.

I agree with JediKai that here's no definitive source about how a Female Jedi looks as a Jedi Knight. My guess would be that when a Female Padawan becomes a Jedi Knight she no longer has a Padawan's Braid and is allowed to grow her hair longer like a Male Jedi Knight. For those who have the EP II Visual Dictionary, on Pg.15 it says "Long hair of Jedi Knight". On Pg.16 it says "Padawan's short hairstyle with learner's braid". On Pg.26 it is also stated "Jedi Padawan with learner braid". I take this to mean that it applies to both sexes. In general short hair with a learner's braid signifies a Padawan Learner, and long(er) hair signifies a Jedi Knight. Mynn, I'm sure that some Male Jedi Knights don't wear a beard, but they have longer hair than when they were a Padawan. I certainly wouldn't grow a beard because I wouldn't look good with one. If you look at the illustrations of Jedi in comics and books, there are Male Jedi Kights that don't have beards (and it's not because they are non-Human).

I'm sure that some Male Jedi Knights don't wear a beard, but they have longer hair than when they were a Padawan Heck, just look at the Council... Mace doesn't have a beard... or hair either for that matter! ;D

I would point out that Mace Windu does not have a beard, so beards are not required as a mark of knighthood.
P.S. I do have a beard, more as a matter of choice on my part.

Emerita, i LIKE that. Calaveylon, Your explaination is logical too. So With mace and others, it's possible a male humanoid growing abeard after being Knighted IS optional. Although some consider me a Knight, I do still have the Padawan Learer's braid simply cuz I haven't and won't ever stop the journey to knowledge. Plus it's kind of a guy magnet :-D Everytime I've braided it in, and some guy sees it, he's got his hands in my hair messing with it. LOL! Jedi Peace fo mind: A handsome guy playing with my hair making me fall sleep. Turns me to jell-O SO fast. If I were a cat, I'd purr.
