Has there been anything written about Obi Wan?? Where does he come from? why was he chosen for training? Who are his parents? Does he have any family??
Strange that we haven't heard much about his past...

there are hints and some records of info that was cut from the original scripts. GL originally had Obi1 and Luke's uncle Owen as brothers........which would mean Obi1 was from Tatooine...though he wouldn't remember it...... at least thats the story I heard.

I do not believe that Obi-Wan was from Tatooine. I think I read somewhere he is from some planet but was sent to the scene for his talents to be a jedi and started trainning as a youngling around four. At the age of thirteen nearly not chosen as a padawan however Qui Gon reconized his talents and took him as a padawan learner.

How many books are there in this seires??? 18 reg series 4 specials were they deal with mutiple master/padawans,but tied togther adventure different generations for instance:Yoda/Dooku,Dooku/Qui-Gon,Qui-gon/Obi-Wan,Obi/Wan/Anakin is all in one story. After jedi apprentice is jedi Quest then the going on now series is The last of the jedi.I strongly recommend that you read the Apprentice series first.jude Watson kind of ties all her characters together throughout the 3 series. You'll get lost

How many books are there in this seires??? Not enough You'll enjoy the whole "Legacy of the Jedi" progression from Dooku to Qui-Gon to Obi-Wan and finally to Anakin. Obi-Wan wasn't the perfect Jedi student either.

But that is what makes the series so interesting!!!

I found some fan fiction on-line a while back that explained about Obi Wan's parents and brother and what he was like as a small child. Don't remember where I found it though - sorry! I printed a copy for Hendel at the time.
I totally agree that the Jude Watson books are worthy of reading. They may be meant for kids, but they develop the characters well and offer thoughts worthy of pondering more deeply. Hendel and I have found some great quotes in them, like "Your focus determines your reality" and "Loyalties are formed in your heart, not born in you."
They also fill in many gaps in the story. I love watching the movies again after reading the books.

I have to agree with all here, the "Jedi Apprentice" and "Jedi Quest" series excellent backstory fillers... especially JA, as it is 18 volumes (About the length of two novels) and covers Obi-Wan's apprenticeship... remember when Yoda says of Luke "He is reckless" and Obi-Wan says "So was I, if you remember!"
And yes, they should be read in order, JA, JQ and now Last of the Jedi...

I got the first Jedi Apprentice book and have read it. It was pretty good. Interesting but I'm not sure if I'm going to devote myself to buying and reading the entire series.
