[shadow=purple,left,300]HEY! WHo says Yoda has to talk backwards all the time, eh? In my eyes, anything he does is brilliant. I even stole the picture of him with his lightsaber from the Star Wars website for my desktop. (Very hard it was. Piece together shots in Photoshop, I did.)[/shadow]

A fine speaker Yoda is. Struggle with correct sentences he does. Taking time to say things right, he must. Easy to talk like Yoda it is. Awaits my starship does. See you soon I will. With you the force may be.

If anyone remembers, Yoda had tons of sentences he spoke normally in ESB and ROTJ (not exact quotes but u get the idea)"Too old..........yes.....he is too old to begin the training." "You are reckless.", "Will he finish what he begins?", etc etc. And let's not forget "There is another Skywalker."

I think Yoda talks that way because he thinks that way. Objects to some sentences come before the subject and verb, possibly because the object is more important to what he's saying.

Yeah, Yoda structures his sentences in a heirarchy of importance.
Is it even possible to say May the Force be with you in Yodaspeak?
With you, may the Force be
I think thats it ;D

Yeah, Yoda had a lot of normal sentences in the OT. Of course, he also seemed to have become "a couple midichlorians short of a Jedi." Heh, that's my way of saying he went a bit crazy while in exile.

it seems to me to be a function of what he wants to emphasize in the sentence.....when he misorders the words you remember it differently than otherwise.....

We had some nice comments on that line watching the movie at C3.. I don't know how many times they had to call over the group of us saying to keep is PG rated with the comments.
