Great movie, far better then the eailer versions, and one I'd want to snag on DVD. Liam Neeson is Aslan's voice. I didn't pick that up right way only that it sounded familar.
Has anyone else seen the movie?

I saw it. Loved it. I sad to say didn't recognized Liam's voice till I saw the credits because I was so wrapped up into the story & action itself. It will be a definite dvd for my library.

Saw it with Karm during Christmas break. Great adaptation. I loved Liam as Aslan. Bad part was that even Karm commented on how there was this huge battle and not one drop of blood anywhere. Not even on Asland when he was lying dead on the Stone Table.

Not realitisic but then noone could take kids. C.S Lewis made his point in the books and this director made his point too. Adapting a wonderful book without going ultra gory or "holiwood" on us.

I enjoyed the film. I'd known Liam voiced Aslan and thought I would be distracted by that but found that I wasn't at all. It's been too long since I read the books so I don't have an impression of how true to the book the film was. I was disappointed with the costuming, which I found to be medieval-ISH. If they were going for a medieval look, they should have gone all the way and really done it right.

I'd never read the books as a kid, but when I saw the movie trailer in the theater last July before my last screening of Revenge of the Sith (with a girlfriend who still hadn't seen it yet! ), I said to myself, "I have got to see that!"
I had every intention of going to the library to check out the first book and read it before it came out, but I never got around to it.
I saw it with my mom on Christmas Day, and even she recognized Liam's voice.
I thought it was good. Definitely getting the DVD when it comes out.

We saw it last week, I did read the Whole Chronicles before I went and it was very true to the book, and more vivid. My Boys, 10, 8, and 6 loved it. The first thing they said was 'when the DVD coming out'. My youngest thought it was not as scary as RotS or Temple of Doom. I guess it all depends on the child.

We enjoyed it. I thought the music was different for that setting, not bad, just different than what I would expect for the genre. Time constraints seemed to limit a lot of the development, especially in Aslan, but for the average viewer nothing would be missed. I've already ordered the soundtrack and I'll be buying the DVD.

Liam's a pretty busy guy. He was in Batman Begins" as well. Another good movie, the best Batman movie to date in my opinion.
Kai, It was a bit strange but maybe they were going for a stylised look. I can see how it'd be offsetting to anyone who wears accurate medival garb. I do think they weren't going to accruacy jsut for a classic look even if stylised.

'Mynn, to me, it didn't even look stylized. To be blunt, I'll quote what someone on another costuming forum said, 'it looks like bad Renn fair garb"
Other than the costumes, I enjoyed the film.

I saw it just after Christmas and I am now Rereading the books. So far it is pretty darn close. as far as the costumes being "like bad Rennfair garb" , i guess it all depends on your opinon of "good" fair garb. I did the eastcoast Renn Fair curcuit for 5 years and I don't think it was bad at all, true it was a little flashy but was still fairly accurate for medieval garb, better than what some of the wannabe Rennies wear each weekend. Also remember it is still only fantasy, and even in the books Lewis had made a comment about how many of the things in Narnia were created out of things in the childrens minds. Hence the more flashy idealised garb. The lack of blod was very appropreate considering that C.S. Lewis wrote the Chronicles of Narnia as a childrens story. All in all I felt it was an excellant movie for Narnia fans and the average movie goer. The BBC did a T.V. series of the chronicles, and it was almost word for word.

Yea I figured the lack of blood was the children's book.. but mainly because it is a Disney film and they wanted the PG rating

I never read the book, but somehow I know the story. I wonder, has there ever been a movie made of it before... or maybe a children's tv special? I watched alot of tv back then. I haven't seen it yet, but I plan to soon.
