Me and my family have to be out of the house by tomorrow and my little Pippen has nowhere to go. Would any local Jedi be interested in giving him a good home?
Peregrin Took. 6 Mon. male capped rat, dark gray/white. 6 in not counting tail. Will adjust with plenty of patience and TLC. Very intelligent; former lab rat. Cage/all acessories included. You pick up.
If interested send an e-mail, subject line 'Pippen' to: undercoverjedi@mfire.com Or call me
Cell: (760) 617-6871 Home: (760) 246-0081; ask for CJ.
Thanks!

Just curious, did anyone take him? If not what did you do with him? Animal shelter?

Nooooope. No takers. Not even a murmur. I have no idea what I can do with him. Animal shelters, from what I know, charge money to turn animals in. Besides, I don't know if they even take small rodents. Rats have gotten such a bad rep that he might be destroyed anyway. I'm completely stuck. The only thing I can think of if start caling friends or smuggle him in under the house owners'- and my parents' -nose.

LOL, a little far for me to travel; especially while moving. What I managed to do was 'smuggle' him in. Our fellow housemate (one who's renting a room from the owners) doesn't mind, thank goodness. *whew!* So it looks like I was worrying for nothing. Thanks for the help anyway!

Good to hear that, and goodto know there're still people around who won't just abandon their pet when it becomes inconvenient to keep them.
I believe that as soon as we take charge of another living thing's lifelihood they become our permanent responsibility and we should make sure they're taken care of under any circumstances.

I am so glad that you were able to keep him, I could never give up a pet unless I was in dire circumstances like you...... Down here in hurricane land it is sickening how many people evacuate and leave their pets to fend for themselves...I don't care what the circumstances are, I would not leave my pets behind....they are the only true loyal things left on this planet..... but if something would ever happen like this again. You can give him to a pet store. Just have a vet's note that he is healthy. They will usually take them and re-sell....

Try and locate a local Rodent Rescue group, they are in most areas, check w/ the local vets, they'll usually know about them as will your local humane society or ASPCA or local Animal Control Dept. Glad it worked out this time. If I was near you, I'd have really considered it, I love rats. I used to have them when I was younger. They are good critters and great pets.

That is true and if you had been near me, I would have taken him and kept him for you until you could have taken him back......

Here I go again. Unless we can find a house that we can afford in a few days, the dogs (mabe the cat) are going to be boarded for a short time and, if nothing comes up, given away. The oldest one might even be put down. I wish it didn't have to come down to this, but we can't stay here much longer and the dogs can't be boarded forever. We just can't afford rent at the prices these days. We've tried literally everything. Job searches, newspapers, friends...nothing. I feel like screaming. I know we can't keep them in an apartment and they can't stay here. Going to the shelter, the're only given three days before they put them down. Please. If you know anyone in the area that can take them, even for a short while, let me know. The home phone is non-applicable now and the cell has limited minutes, I'll ask you to PM me or send an e-mail. There are three dogs; one is a female eleven year old Aussie/German Shepherd mix with artheritis. She's about fifty pounds, gray/tan/white, patient and sweet named Pocahontas. The second is mine, a female five year old black/brownish 'mutt' (mainly bull terrier and Lab) about 45 pounds, very shy, and rambunctious. Her name is Annie. The last, a male seven year old chihuahua/peikingese miz, is fawn/tan, about five to seven pounds, very yappy, and rather grouchy. He's called Poquito. The cat is a female Calico/tortiseshell between 10 and twelve. She's about nine or ten pounds, declawed, and shy but will 'come out of hiding' with paitience. She's Callie. You already know about the rat, but he and the bird are pretty easy...comparitively speaking. We could probably take them and maybe even the cat in an apartment. I'll let you know what devellops. Thank you in advance; at least for caring.

We do care. Try and find a nearby shelter w/ a non destroy policy, local animal rescue groups will know where they are.
