Ok...I have an FX Lightsaber and want to travel with it. Can it be brought on a plane as a carry-on? Will security let it thru? Has anyone ever brought one on a plane?

cant say i have, but i wouldnt imagine that they would let it on, cause it could be used as a weapon. so you should send it in the belly of the plane

probably not. I had 1 carry on piece of luggage for my last trip & in Chicago they allowed my lightsaber hilt to pass & go on the plane. But in Columbus Ohio security refused to allow my lightsaber hilt to go on the plane. So I had to leave security & go put my 1 suitcase with hilt in it into baggage. An f/x most likely won't make it. Of course each airport is different with their security as I found out.

When I went to Celebration 3 last year, I brought my FX lightsaber and a hilt to wear on my belt. Now the FX, I had to put that with my suitcase below the plane because I didn't want to chance it getting damaged by trying to fit it in the carry-on space. As for my hilt, that I had in a travel bag that I took on board, and I didn't have any problems with it.

Something you can use to do that, is use a shotgun case. It protects the saber pretty good, and even if it gets inspected, which it most likely will, it will still be kept safe.

Another thought would be to make a container for it out of PVC. You could also isulate it with foam rubber. The PVC should do a great job of protecting the contents from potentially violent slams and bangs while the foam would cushion the saber for the jolts associated with turbulence.

Borth great ideas! I just didn't want to put it in my suitcase...It would not have been in one piece upon arrival!

I've taken an FX blade through checked luggage. Just pack it in the box it came in. However, I do need to use an extra long duffle bag and to fit the box in. I just pack lots of clothes and things around it.

If you still have the packaging the FX saber came in (styrofoam, black sleeve, cardboard box and all), just repack the FX inside, seal the cardboard box and check it in. I've done that a few times while I travel and all my FX came out fine.
