Dooku was not a good guy, he saw the corruption in the senate and wanted to end it, but he wanted to replace democracy with a dictatorial state, just like Palpatine wanted to. He didnt want to repair the senate, he wanted to overthrow it; and palpatine as well. He became a Sith because he became addicted to power.

I'm a total purist when it comes to the Star Wars universe- I don't read any of the EU at all. For me, if it didn't happen in the films- it isn't canon. I'm pretty much the same. I will ocasionally read a novelisation to see if it offers a different insight into something in the movies, but when it comes to actual stories, I ignore them totally. Boba Fett being slick? Luke being a Jedi Master? Pfaaar, not from how the movies portraid them

no need to be so aggressive seda, i just brought this up as a simple discussion. fear leads to anger, anger to hate, and hate leads to suffering. this is the path to the dark side, calm down.....lol, yoda quotes rock

hmmm, where did this come from, novels? I'm pretty sure I read it in the Ep 3 game's bio on Dooku...I'm trying to find where it is. It's in his background info somewhere, and egenreally, that stuff for the most part theses days does come from George.

I do kind of wonder how things would have played out if Obi-Wan had believed him and turned to his side.

I'm a big reader of the EU. Dooku was pretty cold as a master to Qui-Gon (in the book Legacy of The Jedi ). And was infatuicated with the sith (after exposure to a Sith Hylacron) as a child... as the book covers also. But, if you read Yoda:Dark Rendevouz (a clone wars novel) you see that he wanted to rejoin the Jedi Order and leave the sepratists. He was meeting with Yoda on Vijun was about come back to the order (I don't think it was a trick) until Anakin showed up and it all went haywire. He was very jealous of Anakin...I wonder why . Both are great books to read. Jenny

I think Christopher Lee did a great job portraying him...Did you know we was the bad guys in 007's "The Man with The Golden Gun" in 1973?

In my opinion, although Dooku was evil and did leave all of his jedi past behind to side with palpatne, near the end of his days when he was on the seperatist flagship "The invisible Hand" he was talking to palpatine about how anakin would be boarding the ship on a rescue attempt for the Chancellor. Palpatine had actually planned on anakin killing dooku but dooku did not realize this and only thought that the plan was for anakin to be captured and obi-wan killed. But once anakin had gained the upper hand and palpatine looked on at the situation with a menacing grin on his face, only then did dooku realize that all along...he was a small tool in the uprising of the empire...a very very small and overused tool. As he died his thoughts were of regret and remorse.
So it can that possibly dooku was NOT as bad as all previous sith before him. Think of Darth Maul, now compare him to Dooku.
Dooku was old, he wore brown clothes (which basically screams out hey im not much of a sith at all!) so honestly he was neither sith nor jedi. He was just a lost force user that was very unsure of what he wanted. He was also very very old...and most great sith lords start out being a sith at a way younger age...
