About 2 weeks ago, our 12+ year-old vborder collie died, you might recall. We have been looking for a new companion since the house seemed so empty without our Spanky. Today we found a new friend. Meet Izzy: Husky/border collie mix. Rescued from a pound. Although my sister works at the Humane Society, and we did have an application on a dog there, this one just really jumped at me. Although it was a big decision to make. There was a Aussie-mix I really liked at the pound also, that I kept thinking about, this one just really struck me when we went back to look again. Very gentle and quiet.

LOL. Luckily he only hiked his leg once to mark his territory. We lucked out, it seems he's housebroken.

Thanks! We think he's about 2 years old. He's a good boy. Still trying to figure out each other's signals, but we're doing okay. Mark thinks he was a woman's dog 'cause Izzy seems to hang by me more. That's okay -- Spanky was definitely HIS dog.

Talk about "puppy dog eyes".... I can see your dinner scraps are not safe! He is adorable, and I hope he'll be a comfort in the loss of Spanky. I lost my dear old kitty last year, and even though he could never be "replaced" his younger "brothers" have been a comfort. (And one of them has decided to become obnoxiously spoiled... )

OMG. I couldn't believe it! Last night, Houdini Izzy got out of our yard. 11:00 at night and we're looking all over the neighborhood. Karm was so upset! We finally tracked him downa nd i yelled for him to come, and he stopped and looked at me and then turned around and took off running.
We looked some more and couldn't find him, and went home dejected... and I look out the back door and there he is on our porch!
Silly dog. Now we know how he ended up at the pound. I was so glad to see he knew where "home" was already. He's getting neutered on Tuesday. I hope that helps him some
And today we went out to fix the fence where he got through he was trying every spot he could see to get through. We're watching him close until we can wire up the gaps between the fence and the house
