I just find Christmas overrated....period...personally...I feel that the "commercial" celebration of Christmas should be banned...lol... My family has a simple celebration.... I hear so much bit**ing and moaning at this time of year about gifts, gift giving, family issues, etc...that I am glad that my family has pretty much risen above that... we get together on Christmas Eve....have a cookie exchange and a grab bag of gag and generic gifts done in conjunction with a dice game....we play other games and just have a good time...it is not about the gifts...but rather...just getting together....

Thank you for the soldier Christmas poem at the bottom of Page 3, Mon-Jas Charan.
My brother-in-law will be heading to Iraq in January. It's a reminder for me to make the most of Christmas this year.
It's a reminder of what's really important...Family.
Thank you.

I went Christmas shopping today... for the first time this year --- and outside of BestBuy there was a long line of people camping out for x-box.... sleeping bags chairs, blankets, etc. I might go back there later and bring them some hot chocolate! It had to be about 20 degreesF outside, and at that time it was only about 8pm.

Well, I've never been politically correct, but living in NYC it's about a 1 in 6 chance that if you wish someone a Merry Christmas you were wrong, I usually wish everyone Happy Holiday unless I know for sure, but being a New Yorker, I've sent Mass cards to Jewish friends without fear of offending them or thier families either, in NY it's a common thing, especially in the theatre, In my opinion, Prayers of any kind for the good of someone's soul are a good thing, like Ani, I'm a Pagan, you can wish me Merry Christmas or Happy Channukah, Blessed Ramadan, Happy Kwanzaa or Happy Solstice I'll accept any or all good wishes, and have celebrated or attended celebrations of many and varied religious holiday services, customs or celebrations with friends or by myself, they all have something worthwhile about them. That being said, I found the "Holiday Tree" in Bryant Park just weird, it's a Christmas Tree, so is the one in Rockefeller center, which is still called a Christmas tree, there is also a Giant Mennorah on 5th Ave as well as a Giant Hoiliday Snowflake (inter-denominational thing) that's quite festive. We do tend to celebrate our diversity here, and mostly get along. In the 35 apts in my building there are Catholics, Protestants, Bhuddists, Hindis, Muslims,Parsi, Jews and at least 1 Pagan and maybe others(American, Irish, Italian, French, German, Indian, Chinese, Korean, Bhangladeshi, Iranian, Iraqi, Sudanese and Puerto Rican) that I know of,or have known in the last few years as well, we all get along, and even like each other. This year on the local station they have had Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukkah and Happy Kwanzaa station break graphics, and even had several of the newscasters who wished Happy Solstice or Good Yule on the Solstice, much to my surprise, they also made mention of the start of Ramadan and spoke about the various customs of each Holiday on at least one newsshow on the day or days before, I think that's a far better solution, people tend to fear and dislike the unknown, well that's my thoughts on the subject, except to Wish You All PEACE and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
