Aaaaaah, I did a little web searching and according to the colors for the licensed stuff the house colors are:
Gryffindor: scarlet and gold Sytherin: green and silver Hufflepuff: gold and black Ravenclaw: blue and silver
I have plenty of material for making a robe, but I'm wondering if they're lined in the house colors?

Love HP. Hope I can manage to stay awake through the midnight showing of the new movie, too. Hubby and I have to each have our own copy of the books, though, as we can't wait for the other to finish. Then I send one of the copies to my mom!

Ah, ya gotta go to the Livejournal group, hp_costuming. Lots of detailed info and sources. While I don't do student costumes, I've read what others have found out. In Ep 1, the student robes were lined in black. In the rest of the movies they are lined in color, which has changed. Gryffindor is currently lined in an almost maroon red. See here for lots of documentation photos: www.veritaserum.com/galleries/index.php

Then I send one of the copies to my mom! -lala Yes, I'll be working at a customer site during the release week, but we're still planning on going to the midnight IMAX showing. That will make for a very long day on Wednesday the 11th! We also have to have multiple copies of the book. There's my 2 kids, my wife, and myself...all who want to read as soon as released. We happen to be leaving for a family vacation trip to FL gulf coast on the 21st, so we may try to listen to it on the way down! Since I'll be driving, I don't want to be left out! Our local library has a system that will allow you to download audio books, then burn to CD or MP3 player for your listening pleasure, so I'm going to give that a try. This last HP book is akin to SW RotS for me. Bitter-sweet. I'm so excited to get to the end...but then...that means it's the end :-( Expecto Patronum! ~Darcu

Well I hope you have a swell time in sweltering Florida... though the Gulf Coast is very nice. Much better beaches than the Atlantic side. Enjoy!

I think it's kinda funny.
I checked the WIRE at work and saw a notice that Walmarts were going to do a promo for the book release...and had planned on making employees sign a waiver saying that they would not spoil the book for customers.

i could see why, i know i'm ignoring everything to do with the last book until i finish reading it, if not out of respect for the author, but for respect for the story. i dont want to be roobed of any second feeling the emotion running through the plot. i was worthless for a week after i read half blood prince after i read the part were dumbledore died.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN DUMBLEDORE DIED!!! (kidding) Yeah, I'll definitely avoiding any potential spoilers. My entire family has to keep very tight-lipped about it until we've all finished reading. It's tough, but it's also kind of a fun, family bonding thing.

lol see! i was shell shocked. i was screaming "nooooooo" right along with harry. very few books makes you feel that involved and attached to a story. as a side note, my wand is coming by the end of the week, i'll posts pics of it then. also, i'm looking for some people to read through this fanfic i'm writing, i believe as of today its around 55 pages, if anyone's interested, send me a pm..

If I don't finish the book over the weekend, I'll be taking it with me to a conference for work the next week. Fortunately, I won't have much internet access while I'm there so I can avoid spoilers. Most of the message boards and LJ I'm on are really good about not spoiling.

To be honest, I've never read the books. I'd like to, but I'm quite a slow reader. I only started watching the movies because my little sister fell in love with Harry Potter around the time of the first Harry Potter film release. I've been hooked on the films ever since. I didn't go ga-ga over them like I have for SW, but they're very enjoyable! Won't be attending the midnight showing as I promised myself no more midnight showings after ROTS. That was the last. I'm far too miserable the next day. lol But I'll be going directly after work on Wednesday.
