Parrots are extrmely long lived, but very needy attention wise. Parrakeets are nice, but I like canaries when they sing, only the males really do. thingyatiels are pretty good too. This is going to say "thingy" a lot.

I'm thinking of getting a bird... I'm not sure what kind... any recommendations? Ok... this wasn't quite what I had in mind! lol! Normally I put the bird seed out for the cardinals and chickadees and songbirds.... these guys were rather unexpected!

Well they're always in the yard... a whole flock of them... all year round. But they never came up on the deck before... and they did fly up there, it's a second story deck. They were all over the roof, and it was funny watching them jump off! There were about 7 or 8 of them.
Yeah, the first time I ever saw them fly (about 6 years ago when we moved here) it freaked me out... I didn't even know turkeys could fly! lol! Apparently they roost in the trees.

When I was in hawaii I was with a friend of mine taking a drive around the island. We stoped at a rest area/picnic off the coast and my buddy was being chased by a peathingy! Just came out of nowhere and charged at him. He had to stay in the rest room until it took me throwing rocks at it to get it too move. Though still my frirend still had to run back to the truck as it still chased him..

OMG, that's funny! He probably got too close to a nest or something. The Canada geese do that around here.

We've got a 'pride' of three cats that hang around the apartment complex; they don't seem to belong to anybody. One of them, a small female tabby with white socks, is a real sweetheart. Whenever she's around, she'll follow me into the laundry room, rubbing and purring like mad. Last time she went out of her way to get some attention. Mewing, hopping onto the folding table, pushing my hand with her head, jumping into my laundry basket...she even jumped right into my arms! I didn't mind, though. The cats are healthy and if they want to be petted, I'm happy to oblige. I still miss my own pets and carrying the kitty around was almost like therapy. It was my 'furry fix' for the day.

awwwwww.. so cute.
Yeah he might have.. I was laughing pretty hard when it chased him around though. Though Ive been cornered by a rooster before when I was younger. Was helping my friend collect eggs and I didnt see the male come in . He was mad and wouldnt let me out. He ruffled his feathers and started to come at me when I was yelling for help. My frend came in with a baseball bat and hit him away and then his younger brother chased the thing in the yard on their four-wheeler.
