Hey, anyone ever had a Beagle? I've seen enough videos on YouTube and read enough about them that now I fear I'm hooked on the breed. I want to find out as much as I can before getting one; I also have to convince my dad. I worked with one at the animal shelter.. and I loved her.. she was soo sweet.. don't let their size fool ya.. I had to walk her and she about yanked my arm off..

A yodeling dog??? Oh yeah, that baying howl/bark they have. I like it! I think it's part of their charm. Besides, as long as I don't give the thing anything to hunt and don't leave it alone, all should be okay. Hey Himi, was that a Beagle or a Basset? Bassets are long and low, but very strong. Beagles look like close to the same size, but they're a different shape. High-set tail, floppy (But not excessively long) ears, big brown eyes...they don't weight more than twenty-five pounds, so I doubt they'd pull your arm off. Bessets, on the other hand, are lower to the ground and are like trying to walk a riding mower! They have about ten pound's weight over a Beagle, too.

Beagles are "supposed" to be medium sized dogs...though, as far as the 25 lbs. I think every beagle my family's owned must have been an exception. Mine (a female) weighed around 35...and one of her pups, (Bud - male) who I gave to my uncle became a powerhouse of a dog weighing around 40...and his version of playing was bring you a stick and being picked up while holding it in his jaws. That dog was solid muscle...

These are my brother-in-law's dogs... the small one is Nemo and the big one is Koda. They're both such characters! I was watching my niece and nephew in Florida while their dad was away for a day and I got to pet sit too .... sort of. The kids knew what to do thankfully, since I really don't know much about that other than if they stand at the door it means they have to go out. lol! And yes, I was as tired as I look!!

Oh my gosh... I can't beleive it.... Dad just called from work. He found a cat outside tied to a bench; the poor thing was hanging itself. He untied it and brought it back in to have it checked out by the staff... He asked if we wanted a cat. Mom said if it's healthy, then she turned to me and asked if we wanted her? I started crying and said 'What're you, kidding?' Just yesterday I was talking for hours on end about my Beagle propects. Cat, dog, guinea pig, as long as it has fur, yes I want it!!! Mom just told me that the tests for the feline leukemia came back negative and she's healthy otherwise. They're going to give her the needed shots and spay her. Then she's ours. I'm so happy I don't know whether to cry or laugh. Another pet! YESSSSS!

How are you feeling Whinter? I'm doing ok, but I sure do miss him. Everything I do seems to remind me of him. However, Mom seems to be doing worse than I am. She's really lonely during the day, especially since she's retired and the house is terribly empty without him. I have a feeling we'll end up with a couple of new kitties sooner than she wants to admit.

;D Our kitty's home and all set up. She took a few steps out of the carrier, sniffed a couple times, then made a beeline for Mom and Dad's bedroom. She came out once a few minutes ago to check out the bathroom, then skittered back. She'll come out when she's ready. After all, she's been through a lot for one day! Tied to a bench, spayed, given several shots, and then taken to a strange new place. Poor kitty! As for details, the vets say she's between six and eight months old and an American Shorthair with a gray tortiseshell coat. She has a few beige or orange markings and beige paws, but I couldn't really tell becuase she was so quick. My sister named her Cinderella; Ellie for short, becuase of her gray fur. It actually fits her and a Star Wars name really wouldn't do for this little one. I'll post some picture when she comes out of hiding.
