Oh, Blackhawk Down is a terrific film. But it may not be to everyone's taste. Except for the first 20 minutes or so and the last 10 minutes, it's nothing but unrelenting, bloody, graphic warfare. And there is so much going on and everyone gets so filthy so early in the movie that's it's hard keep track of who everyone is even though they have their names written on their uniforms. I can see why Ewan (and everyone else who's in it) tends to get overlooked. The action and the directing are the real stars of this film.

The cast and crew spent some time down the road from me at Ft. Bragg during filming. During an interview, don't remember who with, they said it was filmed in almost non-stop action in order to get the feel of what it's like to be in combat.

I recall that 1 or 2 ended up in the hospital for exhaustion and dehydration.
A good friend was a ranger medic assigned to work with the movie. He said it was an unusual day where someone on cast or crew (usually crew) didn't need to be rehydrated.

They forgot to add "The Pillow Book" to the list of Full-frontal movies. Strange movie about writing text on bodies, he spends alot of time naked.

LOL! I finally found a copy of the whole TV series of LWR that works on my dvd player! Wow it was long... took me 2 nights to get through it. But it was just amazing! Would it be a midlife crisis if I bought a motorcycle and ran off for a few weeks?

I saw The Island on Sun. w/ my Boss & His Boss, it was fun, not a great movie, but summer entertainment with lots of crash & bang, some was pretty funny, Ienjoyed it for what it was, the Boss really liked it and his Boss (wife) thought there was way to much prominent product placement, that might have been true, but some of that was funny too, and, the story line held together for the length of the film w/o jarring you out of it to badly.

I've not seen it yet... I've been very busy lately with family stuff.
Glad the plot holds together... I'd like for the Ewan factor anyway, but it's nice to know there's a movie there too, even though I am getting tired of seeing cars flipping over and large explosions in just about every movie preview that's out this summer. It's just overkill really.
I've been getting into some foreign film lately. I just saw one called Russian Ark, and it was genuinely different... the whole thing is one long tracking shot... about 90 minutes worth... and you learn quite a bit about Russian history as well.
