When you go to a con what is it you like to do the most? What panels or workshops do you hit first? Or what activities do you prefer?

I usually recon the palce, note where interesting things are, then go back.
Dealer's room: This usally depends on the eailer recon if I want anything.
Workshops: I'm always looking for ways to improve my craft and take advantage of the sewing and prop workshops.
Sometimes DragonCon will have a workshop about a fictional culture like Pern, or martial arts stunt fighting etc, I attend those too.

J'aii-Gun Jiinn & Jauhzmynn Enz Thanks for taking the time to post! It's nice to see con-going hasn't changed to much in the 16 years I have been a con orginizer. This really helps me make sure that workshops and panels are what attending members what to see. If you guys happen to think of anything else you would like to see at a con and haven't yet please feel free to send me a pm. And If anyone else has any fav's they haven't shared yet I'd love to hear them too! www.shevacon.org

I like to hang with friends the most. But dealer rooms are a must. Art shows also. Panels come if I have time and if there is something I would be interested in. A lot depends on who I am with. If its family, then I don't get to do much other than the dealer rooms and talk to a few friends. If its just me thenn anything goes

First and foremost is seeing my old friends again! ;D Usually a bit of a reunion for the first half of the first day of say D-Con. I'll have my first costume on within 30 minutes of getting settled into my hotel room. I usually bring at least three costumes (this year I'll have four with a possible fifth costume). After meandering around, I'll hit the dealers room. D-Con's isn't the greatest (crowded, too much of the same thing at almost every booth). I rarely (as in never) find something unique that I've been hunting for on ebay for instance. I end up not spending much if anything at all. Most of the day is spent hanging out with fellow costumers- and I have to admit I love getting my picture taken. I don't think I've ever attended a single panel at D-Con. I'll check out the Walk of Fame (where the stars meet the fans). Again, nice to see them, but I rarely buy a photo and get it signed. After attending D-Con for the last four years in a row- I have two stars' autographs. The evening is usually spent hanging out in the Hyatt lobby checking out the various costumes and mingling among new friends. ;D

Well, there's the comparatively small state con and then there's Dragon*Con. Two very different approaches.
Norwescon is quite laid back and boring compared to D*C. I run a couple fan tables with local members, attend a few panels, present panel(s), hang with friends. Dealer's room is usually the same people every year so it takes 20 minutes. I always attend the Sat costume contest.
Last year was my first year at D*C. I got overwhelmed with the programming and tried to attend a lot. This year I probably won't try to do that as much but spend more time at MOTF Star Wars tarck. I hope to see more people I know from costume groups. I spent, and will spend, most of my time with TJA.

The only indoor events I attended at DragonCon last year were the SW track panels in Dunwoody (a medium-sized meeting room in the basement) and the SW costume contest. The rest of the time I basically wandered around and hung out. But that's the best way to see the most costumes. This year I wanna find the Justice league and see if Katarn can join it. Then I'll try to sell the idea to LucasArts and DC Comics. ;D Hey c'mon... he's a telekinetic with a big gun and a laser-sword! It works! ~ Koda

Thank you jade.:-)
YOu'er right Kai, Dragon is VERY intense.
Jade, I really like the saller cons because when the same dealers, stars and staff are there, it starts to feel like a big family of friends. Similar to how NecronomiCon is in tampa. Folks know each other on sight. It's more of a book/author con. The same 2 or 3 guys/girls show up, share their books. It's relaxed, chilled and the authors and occasional star feel they can relaxe since they don't have to hurry all over.
I'd like to see more family friendly things at the massive cons.. I wonder if a big con can be run in a way that it 'feels' like a small one? As in the stars can chill nad not have to zip to each engagement at warp nine.

All the other Celebrations and cons I've been mostly on my own. that's before B.T.J.A. I really have something to look forward to this year. ;D.I do the art show thing.I like to look at other peoples mediums and how they do certain characters especially in the Star Wars arena. No 2 artists are alike.

Only been to two cons in my life; Youth Convention back in 2002 and of course CIV. I think mostly I like to browse, hang out, and take lost and lots of film and picture.

Mistress Enz, that is so true about smaller cons feeling like family they do have their advantages. It has been a while since I have been to a big con. About the time I was helping SheVaCon start the con seen as a whole was taking a large hit and some con's were dieing out. It's been really nice to see new ones form, take shape and grow. Now if we can get them all to work togeather to make sure we have costuming/fandom scantuary we'll be doing great! On a personal level I love the art shows being an artist myself I love to chat with the other artists Master Neesen is right no two styles are exsactly a like and there is always something new to learn. Dealers room is fun but I never have money to spend so I don't stay long. There have been some panels and workshops I try to go to but I'm useuly in the art room makeing sure the art is safe, answering questions on how the show and auction works and chatting with people who wander in looking for me.
