I'm about 1/3 thru this book. It's different, set almost 1000 years before SW! Here is a quote...
Peace is a lie. There is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory my chains are broken.
Kind the opposite of the Jedi, huh?!

There are many ways to learn the ways of the Force, but only those who have joined it may know best.

I didn't like Part I to much, kinds boring. Part II started to get good...the code, and he's actually getting to see what it means!

I know why during the Brotherhood of Darkness days the Sith didn't use the 'Darth' title for themselves....this book is very informative!!!

Part I was bad, but parts II & III were awesome!! Here is my favorite guote from Lord Hoth (Jedi):
"What I don't need is some prancing dandy lecturing me on the dangers of the dark side"
hehehehe!!
Bane actually saved lots of jedi's lives...but not to be nice. He did it do destroy the other sith lords!

I had a lot of problems with the book myself.
<<SPOILER ALERT>>
But the main one was that I always thought Darth Bane instituted the "only two" rule because the Sith always turn on each other and thus end up losing to the Jedi as they fight amongst themselves. I thought the "only two" rule was therefore a solution to that problem, albeit a problematic one, as it means there are only a couple of Sith to take one thousands of Jedi.
But, in this book, the Sith ARE working together well and not turning on each other before Bane wipes them out. The story that I'd always understood about Bane is a lot more interesting than the one presented in this book, where Bane just wipes out all the other Sith because they aren't Sithy enough anymore, and institutes the rule because he feels like it. Didn't like that very much.

Yeah...He felt as though having only two channeled all of the dark side energy into only those two vessels. By having a Brotherhood of Darkness it made for for a diluted dark power....a little bit to each of the lords. But I found Blademaster to be really powerful..along with Kopecz. I think that the sith did turn on each other...but somehow Kaan got them to stop fighting each other and to become a cohesive force to fight the Jedi.
But I do agree...I did at some point hear that Bane eliminated the sith due to the infighting...but that is not what happened here!

I just finished. I don't necessarily think part I was bad. The story has to start somewhere. But it definitely picks up speed after he is accepted into the Sith army, and later at the academy.
