I am a huge horse racing fan, so I started a stable at Equination.net's horse racing game site. I am Rolling River Farm (what I always wanted to name my farm, and what my model horse stable was named.) So far I have 8 horses, one of them I named after this site: Jedi Assembly (bay 2 year old colt). I also have Force Lightning (6 year old stallion I bought at auction), Lanhi Tam, and Karm Vin. I'll let you know how they race. Lanhi raced and came in fourth outof 4 (poor Nerfherder), Karm Vin is in training ofr 3-4 weeks, and Force Lightning is entered for Sunday (he had a couple of bad sessions, so I don't think he'll do too well, but we'll see). Jedi Assembly just had a very good training session so maybe he'll do real good.
So far one of my other horses, Silver Linings, placved forst in her first race, and another, Run Away Home, came in 2nd out of 9 in her first race.
I did find another stable that has Padme Amidala, Aayla Secura and Jango Fett, so I'm not teh only SW geek racing

That sounds like fun, I used to get to the races once in a while, but it's been a really long time. I almost went to the Newmarket races last year when I was in England, but didn't get there, oh well, another time. I always liked the races, but my favourite part was to go to the track before and see the stable stuff, Open House day at the track was my favourite day in summer as a kid, you could go and wander all around the stable area and see the horses up close, my favourite horse was a one eyed black that ran really well, always in the money, had a sweet personality and a chicken as a companion. Some of my favourite books as a kid were The Black Stallion series. Always loved Northrern Dancer and oh wow, Secretariat, those were HORSES!

I've always loved horse racing, but amazingly never went to a "real" thoroughbred race. Benn to a few harness racing, but I've always wanted to got o a real race. Been to Churhchill Downs and Keeneland a few times, but never when there were races. Nerfherder felt bad for me and took me to the racetrack one time for our anniversary, but he didn't know that there were no races that day, just off-track betting.
I love the Black Stallion! Still have my complete set ofbooks and read them every once in a while -- especially this time of year when the Derby is so close
Beento teh Kentucky Horse Parka couple of times too. Loved it there. Met a few old champs like John Henry and Forego.

I agree.....the Walter Farley books were my favorites as a kid. I also agree about Northern Dancer and Secretariate....beautiful horses.
I've been to KY a couple times. Once, as a kid, I got to "meet" Citation. Back then, the horse was in a publicly accessible paddock (can you believe it) and I patted his nose.
I grew up in a tiny town that had the county fair grounds and a half-mile harness track. I hung around the track on weekends almost my entire childhood. Watched the horses train, etc.

My wife and I own two retired race horses, they are 25 and 27 and are hlf sisters. they are Quarter Horses. one was retired due to an injury in her front legs which are pinfired, and she was put out to pasture as a brood mare, they other we're not quite sure why she was retired and made a brood mare but both still has speed and the attitude to still be racing. my wife wants to teach them to barrel race now.

If she was pinfired, it sounds like she bowed a tendon, barrel-racing might not be the best idea for her, but I've known of older barrel racers, so maybe give it a go with the other, a lot of times they retire a horse to broodmare status because she has good breeding, but isn't in the money enough to make her a profitable racer, colts however will sell, or might be better as racers in a few years. My sister was a jockey for awhile and a trainer she worked with gave her a horse that he caused to bow a tendon, he even paid for the vet bills (pinfiring, etc.) and to ship the horse from Fla. to NJ. He was huge about 17.3 hands, and very funny, liked to chew on fur and carried his stable cat around in his teeth, that was a very strange sight.

yeah they were retired because their blood line booth have produced champions and are form a fairly good stock. not bad for two free horses. Right now we are only team pinning with the one with pinfired legs. Both are sired by Go Dit Go.

What does "Pinfired' mean?

It's a treatment that's generally used on a bowed tendon, I've forgotten the technicalities of it, but it usually works, although the leg will usually be weakened for a long time or for life, it's been along time and the technology may have improved, they had only started to set legbones in horses when I was in HS, instead of just destroying the horse. I know Ruffian ran as a Major Stakes horse as a 3 year old, but thnen broke her leg a 2nd time during a race and was destroyed.

Jedi Assembly came in third in his first race this past week.
Lanhi Tam (aka Nerfherder ;D) won his first race -- teh second he ran -- today.
Karm is still breaking in but should be able to run in 2 weeks.
I have a new horse, Padawan, a filly for sprints I may run this week or next.
Force Lightning is not doing well and I will put him back into training to see what can be done for him

Funny, somebody came in to work today and mentioned The Kentucky Derby is this week, but I'll be in England, I was thinking of going to the races in Chester, there tracks are weird and Chester's is really weird, they run in the other direction at that track. Cor-Al congrats on the great showings, and Force Lightning will get it together I'm sure. For a moment Jedi Assembly caused me to think back to General Assembly, it's a shame he never lived up to his breeding, he was so intractable as a colt they gelded him, not so hot on the track. I think Secretariat was never really crossed out to the right broodmares/bloodlines, but I have heard that some of his grand foals are doing pretty well. I used to follow the breeding lines alot, but it's been a long time, this keeps making me think I'd like to go to the track.

Secretariat's best foals were the females! Good for him! Lady's Secret was the best! I agree that he just never seemed toget the right cross on broodmares despite his success on the track.
My pick for the Derby: Pollard's Vision (I have to go with a half-blind horse ;D), Tapit, and Smarty Jones.

RA didn't do so hot, but Lanhi sure came up fast and won his last race. Karm is done breaking in and will run his first race tomorrow. Force Lightning is still breaking in for another 2 weeks or so. Padawan is doing well

Have to brag a little here...
I bought a horse on my first day of playing for $50 off the sales board. I am now his third owner. I took him and changed his name to Force Lightning (don't remember what it was before that.) I raced him once and he came in fourth. He never seemed to train well, so I put him in "Breaking In" training where you can learn what distance/surface he prefers to run on. Got him back from that and rested him up and put him in a race today and he WON at Stakes level. This is the first race he has ever won, out of nine starts. Just makes me happy to know I turned him into a winner. ;D
As for my other Star Wars horses: Jedi Assembly hasn't done to well. A third and a fourth in his 2 starst. I will race him again this week probably. Padawan has a first and a second in her two starts, will race soon again. Rebel Alliance had a fourth and a first and will race tomorrow. Rogue Leader has a fourth and a second. A new horse, Dark Force Rising, races Wednesday for teh first time. And I have a yearling named Jedi Apprentice that I will race next "year" (A year is three montsh long in this game -- next year starts in July) and is in training now. Lanhi Tam has two fourths and a first. Karm Vin has a second in is first start and races tomorrow
I also have non-Star wars horses. The best is Silver Linings who has raced three for three now with three firts in her first three starts. But she hasn'traced any high class horses yet. Also have Stormy Day Majestic, Dead Zone (whom I just gelded cause he's beena pain in the butt), Kamikaze Zero (named by guess who), Run Away Home, Barq's Root Beer (whose father is a stallion named Barq that I bought and her mother is named Sassafras, who I also own).
