Cor-Al, The first thing I'd do it visit the bridal department of JoAnn's or Hanthingy's or even your local craft shop and look at the various skullcaps and headbands used as foundations for bridal veils and headpieces. They are covered in white satin and have combs for attaching to your hair. Then I'd cover it with a base fabric (so the shiny white won't be distracting) and experiment with pinning fabric or felt or taping foam shapes to it and trying it on to see how you like it. Then it's tweak, tweak, tweak. I did this for a "fairy tale lady-in-waiting" costume I did years ago for a dinner theatre and was very pleased with the results. And if you like the Adi Gallia look, it would be a good foundation for that. Can't wait to see your final product.

Hmmm. Some cool ideas there. Too bad I don't have a craft or fabric store within 40 miles. Next time I go to Lima I'll go to Hobby Lobby and JoAnn's (which is right next door, go figure) and check out some bridal stuff.

I'm sure there has to be an on-line source for the bridal scull cap but I certainly can't find it.

Cor-Al, I remember now that the one I used was called a "Juliet cap" made of buckram and covered in the satin. If you can't find something locally or online, you might even google "millinery supplies". I don't know a thing about the company in this link, but it shows some of the styles I've seen in the past. [ftp]http://www.harpagonwedding.com/closeouts.html[/ftp] (Bottom of page) And if you'd like, I can scout around locally (Atlanta) while I'm doing my Christmas errands to see what's currently available. Honestly, it WAS a few years ago when I did mine and fashion DOES change.

Yea, I was thinking about those things they call "Set of 3 Satin-Covered Buckram Teardrop-Shaped thingytail Hat Frames" on that website... kind of oval shaped. But really teher are things there I hadn't considered. Now waht to do with them.....

Another thought for ideas -- when you do get to a fabric store, thumb through the pattern catalogs looking at: Bridal Crafts - Hats Costumes (duh ) Kids (even "scouts" uniforms) The "easy to make" patterns which may be "no sew" Or even look online at the pattern websites. There may some aspect of one -- a shape, a veil, or something -- that could be adapted to look "Jedi-like", whether or not it needs one of the buckram foundations. Some of the cap patterns (in Crafts) use felt. I'll keep my eyes peeled around here for some ideas.

Another idea -- instead of a hat, could you twist your hair up over your head to cover the graft spot and use some sort of cool, other-worldly fastener? I just saw these in the drugstore and thought of you: [ftp]http://www.hairagami.com/ourproducts.html[/ftp] especially this or this I had never heard of this company but they have some interesting items for hair arranging -- the model on the link reminds me of Padmé and one of her do's. If done creatively, they could look very Star Wars-y....

Went off to dinner, thinking about this more... Here's another link -- this time to Stass Allie / Adi Gallia costuming tips: [ftp]http://www.padawansguide.com/adi.shtml[/ftp] Has some good close ups of the headgear. Instead of the bridal headgear, maybe you could even use a "swimming cap" as a base. Now I need to stop thinking about this ( ), and either go balance my checkbook or wrap some Christmas gifts! I could use the Jedi mindtrick on myself, since it does work on the weakminded.....

Opinions please. How about something like this: or this... I am more drawn towards the top one, at least temporarily until I can figure what else to do

I vote for #1.
I got a cool looking headband at Target last night -- sort of an embossed leather look in a metallic copper color (but not shiny). I thought it might be interesting worn forward instead of "preppy style" on top of the head.
I think I'm going to send it to you to see if you can do anything with it -- might look good with #1.

Oooo.. cool. Right now I would have to wear if with a hat since my bald spot is bigger than most headbands, but I can't wait to see it! Good things headbands are coming back in style Thanks Kryy!
