There is a nice gallery of Disney's Jedi Academy photos on their web site, including the Jedi (and their costumes) who instuct all the little kids. The whole Jedi Academy idea sounds so cheesy to me, but it worked so well at CIII, I was quite impressed. The kids just loved it. A few costume comments.... Eeewwwwww, short tabards! (But her padawan looks good.)I don't know if there are any Jedi in the movies with short tabards, but it just doesn't look right to me. Nice pose, nice costume.Short tabard master again, but look how her tunic is pinned at the V-neck, and her belt looks the same as the other Jedi.Yep, looks like the same, basic Jedi belt here, too. Nice fabric. But they all look like they're wearing the same pirate boots.Nice professional looking costumes, and they are being worn in the Florida (Edit: oops California) heat and humidity, too. I wonder what the fabric is? The robes look like they are a medium weight fabric. Cotton? It would look better, I think, if the master and padawan had different shades of brown. The kids wear robes, so they can't be made from anything heavy, and it looks like the adults take off the robes pretty quick. Those hoods look so good in the movies, but in real like they never behave; they're either all over your face for sliding back in the least little breeze. Wearing a felt had under the hood does keep it in line, but when you take the robe off, you have to have a place to put the hat.

Hate the robes and the pirate boots, but the tunics are pretty nice.

Oh, trust me it is unbelievably hot in May for SW weekends - lightweight tunics for sure - and, man, the things ya gotta do for minimum wage in this town.... The Chewie costume guy doesn't stay out for long and I think the troopers rotate pretty frequently, especially the guys on the roof at the entrance. Ugh...

I think the padawans costume is the best out the lot.

Interesting... Like Cor-Al said, the robes and the boots... But the tunics look very crisp. heheh... they're like dept store Santas... what they need is "real" jedi... like us!

I'd love to see that performance. I'll have to make it to a SW weekend one of these years.

Sept and Oct are still very hot in SoCal. I lived 8 mi. from Disneyland for 14 years. Wool robes would not have been a good thing. That 1st female padawan is the only one not wearing pirate boots.
I posted the link to these in the thread about the Jedi job ad. They did hire some women. The initial add was only for males.

The pirate boots aren't too distracting for me. And the robes would have to be made of some lightweight fabric for the hot weather. But I think if they just made the robes a darker shade of brown, like they have for the children, they would look a lot better.
The overall shape of the robes looks fine, but the fabric looks thin. If they just double the fabric at the front of the hood and at the sleeves, there wouldn't have a problem with light shining through the fabric (and it looks like they do), without making the robe too heavy.
I wonder if the short tabard master's V-neck is pinned because she's a little busty and it keeps her costume in place? Short of pinning like that, the only other way to keep a Jedi tunic in place over a larger bust would be to have darts in the tunic and make it more fitted to the body.
Aaaaaah, I found the Jedi job ad thread. I'm so behind on some things. I think someone must have pointed out to them that they would have little girls and boys participating, so a mix of genders for the masters would look better. Or they might have already hired the women when they ran the ad?.....on second thought, it looks like there are two shifts of Jedi of four each. Two masters and two padawans. But only one of the four has the head mike, and they're both men. Perhaps he is the main performer and the others are assistants? And the ad was for the main performer?

Yeah, the youngling in the background is sooooo cute! The pirate boots are distracting, as are that woman's short tabbards, but she makes up for it w/ the groovy haircut and he makes up for it w/ the 'fro. The Asian dude makes for a good Jedi pose; all he's missing is a lightsaber. The padawan's got it right! I bet we could get some free passes for the day if we joined league w/ the 501st and Rebel Legion and volunteered for the day, just standing around (even if it is hot), taking pictures w/ the kids, posing, showing off a few sweet lightsaber mock-duels, etc, etc, and then the next, day have the park to ourselves, free of charge! *rubs hands together and lets loose a Sith laugh* MWAHAHAHAA!!! ...ok...checked pics again and noticed the Asian dude already had a lightsaber...oops...my bad....

The wrinkly thin-fabric robe is what got me, not the shape

NOt bad costumes! They got alot of the details that most miss... The Obi's look great! And no trim byond the obi either...not bad costumes... The belts are a little big on the others aside from that Padawan, and as for the pinning, they did that to Qui and Obi in TPM

From experience, pirate-medieval style boots are considerably easier to find than "jedi" boots...which I still haven't been able to find any my size.
