So here I am, no sooner back from D*C and I get the urge to make a new costume (easily obsessed yepyep). I happened across a picture of Jason Court playing Kyle Katarn in the "Dark Forces II" game and I thought...  hmmmm.... I might can pull this off.  I think the hardest part (read most expensive  ) will be the blaster and saber. I know it won't be up to Primrodo's standards for EU face-characters  , but it should be easily recognizable as Kyle. I think you'd make a fantastic Kyle! Which version were you wanting to do? Personally I like the Jedi Knight one. Blaster and Saber though should be ok...Reaper on the RL has a great Bryar Pistol. I know it won't be up to Primrodo's standards for EU face-characters , but it should be easily recognizable as Kyle. Now whats this? Is my rep THAT bad?  |

Well, the ladies were calling you the costuming "stud" for some reason. /scratch head Not too sure why...  ... I'll be doing a hybrid version. /waits for Primrodo to finish cringing... Should be cut-scene-accurate to JK on the shirt (i notice the fabric has crinkle-ridges to it like obi-wan's tunic ...hmmm... pretty cool) except I may add a small collar with a loose draw-string thing like in Jedi Outcast (i rather like that style). Haven't quite decided yet. The Kyle Katarn signature element is the pauldron on the right shoulder. That will be exact to the cut-scenes, possibly scale-adjusted a few cm for my height (198). I plan on modifying the belt a bit from the Jason Court / Arkos version to add thigh-holsters on BOTH sides. Bryar pistol on the right and saber on the left in a holster, both with leg tie-downs. I also will probably add small leather pouches (3) across the back in place of the three rectangular metal plates seen in the cut-scenes. It will be my first attempt at leather-work, I'm both looking forward to doing it and scared of messing it up at the same time.  Oh well... I have 8 months. For boots, I plan on using my existing Adi Gallia style boots (to save money), unless I can rig up a mod for straps/buckles and match the dye. Whatever I do will have to look OK with the Koda Vonnor (generic jedi) costume too. I'm *NOT* investing in another pair of boots, no way. The lightsaber (Qu Rahn version) I will probably have machined out of aluminum, brass, and black delrin. I am making the blueprints now. It will be a hilt only. The Bryar? I was going to attempt to have it machined as well (poor-house here i come) but I got a note from Ed "Reaper" O'C. from the Rebel Legion that he might have a way to make one, so hopefully I can figure that out. Should be pretty cool! ;D |

Wow... you could pull it off! Is there a full length pic someplace? I just loaded the DF2-JK game on my desktop last night. I guess I have to play through the game to open up the cut-scenes (is there a mod for JK that allows one to play all the cut-scenes?). I'll be taking a ton of screenshots for costuming reference as I go through them. If I come across a full-length shot I'll post it. One thing that's messed up is on my system (XP Pro) the cut-scenes (made for Win95) have lots of residual black pixels all over the screen. Hopefully I can figure out how to get cleaner shots. I wonder if it has anything to do with running the game under SLI graphics. ~ Vonnor |

LOL I am not cringing Look forward to what do. My personal favorite Katarn is JK2, but a nice mix shouldn't be too big of a detail, and most won't notice anyway...those that know who you are anyway Seriously looking forward to seeing what you can do. Costuming stud though? Interesting.... lol |
