I recently purchased some new Jedi robes from a seller on Ebay. When I first received them I must say I was a teensy bit disappointed- they seemed a bit too big even though they were custom made to my measurements. And the colour of the outer tunic was a little darker than I anticipated. However having worn them a couple of times now, they have completely grown on me! I also put my old robes on for comparison, and the new ones blow them out of the water! So here are the pics! ;D The inner/outer tunics are made from polycotton broadcloth. The tabbards are full length both front and back Qui-Gon style. The obi wraps twice around the back and ties in a knot in front (which is then tucked beneath my utility belt). There is a full dark brown inner tunic that has a triple lapel collar. The outer tunic/obi/tabbards are tan. Pants are simply "George" brand dress pants from WalMart (they are a light olive/brown colour). Still kept my old robe as it is in fine shape. (Now for some ham...) "Ki-Vaan in repose" ( Or... "What does Anakin plan on doing with that speeder?") "That made a mess!!!"Now for a comparison of old robes to new... May 2005 July 2006 I have already updated my profile on the TJA website (with the cool pictures- not the ham ones ). I still have to do some minor alterations so the fit is a little more sung where it needs to be. Other than that, I am very pleased with my new robes. I can provide information on the seamstress upon request.

Nice threads there Kevin. I prefer the longer tunics personally and the length suits you. Now you just need to grow the beard back

Very nice. I've tried the triple lapel for the collar on the under tunic and it looks great. MAN, is that a difficult critter to do.:-) How does your seamstress do that? How wide of a peice of fabric and how does she make the pleats stay put?

Thanks everyone! ;D Jauhzmynn: I won an ebay auction so I never actually met the seamstress. I don't have a clue how she does it- but I'll be bringing these robes to Dragon Con and you'll be able to see them. Jeffrek: Oh the beard... the beard... I did like it while I had it- but being in the food service industry and having a full beard doesn't mix. LOL! Seriously though, thanks for the compliment on the length; I was a little worried it was too long.

Ki-Vaan, those look great! I like the long tabards in the back... it gives it a bit of a different look than the typical Obi-Wan costume. The undertunic is done very well!
;D
Glad it's all worked out for you!

Looks very good, Ki Vaan. I hope you bring it to Montreal in a near future, so I get to see it and we get to take pictures. Your inner tunic is awesome, BTW.

kevin....i think the length is just about right...with the pic comparison, the old one looks a tad too short. i'd like to know about your robe...where'd u get it? what fabric is it? costume looks killer. could u pm me with details on this ebay seller. thanks.

Many thanks again everyone! ;D Dennis- My outer robe actually came with my old tunic. It was a one time ebay auction that I won over a year ago. It was not from a professional seamstress (in fact the seams are pretty amateurishly done). The robe itself isn't too bad- however if you take a close look at it you can see some major flaws- mostly in symmetry. Fortunately the oversized look hides this well. I'm pretty sure it's pure wool. PM sent as well. I think it's time I changed my avatar.

Thanks Jaryk! The broadcloth is nothing special really. I guess it's like a linen? It's pretty basic- although it is easy to wash and maintain. I would have preferred a crinkle cotton as it has much more texture and that Ep III appearance. But like I said, I'm still pleased with it.
