The how do you pronounce your name got me thinking, What is the history behind your name, where did it come from or how did it evolve into being? Mine, well 19 years ago I met my husband through a mutual friend, my parents had moved here to Virginia a year before while I was allowed to finish high school in Colorado. I wasn't use to all the country quiet so I had picked up 3 jobs. My friend told me about Disclave. I had never been to a con before but decided to check it out. after coming home with a boy friend (my husband now) told me about gaming so we went to a friends house and I was introduced to Iron Crown after a few times I made my own character but couldn't think of a name for her. Our friend Harry had this Tolkien book of names. That's when I found Runya, it is Silvan elf for sandy red hair, so my elf became Runya Lightwood. She has been the only gaming character I have ever had. The Jade part comes from our studio name. After Troy and I got married 1 year later, both of us being artists decided we would name our studio Summer Jade Studios. When I signed up here I started to put my name as Runya Jade, but didn't know if it would be allowed due to the Mara Jade character so I flipped it. A funny note, When Troy and I went to the Bahamas with 2 of our friends we found a perfume factory at the end of the tour you had the option of creating your own perfume. I did and named it Runya that was 15 years ago. ;D

Nice idea and nice story.
Miy story is very short. My Jedi name is Kai-thri Ona
It's fractured from my SCA name, Caitriona, which is old Irish for my middle name, Katherine.

Cor-Al is a play on Carol, my real name. I chose it because my next-door neighbor had a grandchild named Coral, and I thought it was a nice name... better than plan old Carol.
Gelkar is kind of a combination of my married name (Gilbert) and my maiden name (Karbowiak)

How interesting to read and great topic! I picked Runya because the Tolkien book I have states it means 'bright flame'. I easily blush bright red, and my friends were always calling me 'flame'...hence changing it.

My name is actually a nod to my other fandom, Doctor Who. The name Ka-Faraq Gatri, is the name the Daleks call The Doctor. Which means " The oncoming storm" or "Bringer of Darkness"
Funky name for a Jedi huh? =)

What story line is that from Ka-Faraq? It's intriguing! I watched the Tom Baker years of Dr. Who religiously in the late 70s/ early 80s! Never missed an episode and cried my eyes out when he "regenerated". I always thought the Daleks spoke English. Not that I'm doubting you or anything. Anyway to get back on track, Ki-Vaan is a play on my first name Kevin. Zion was chosen as something that rhymes with my first name. This goes with other Jedi who's names rhyme with themselves such as Ki-Adi Mundi and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Before I chose Zion, I had gone through a bunch of different last names such as: Shinzu Kadaan Sinjo Shinjo Yhomaan Kyusho Xinjo Xion By the way, it is pronounced: KEE-von ZEE-on.

I know I go by Obiwanron on here but my Jedi name is Orn Hye Joo.
Orn is a jumble of my first name "Ron." Hye and Joo were the given first and middle names of my daughter when I adopoted her from Korea. She is the light of my life and I found a way to imortalise her in my love of StarWars.

History... ok! I chose Leda because it was my grandmother's name. Later I found out about the story of Leda and the Swan, from Greek mythology, and last week, Aaron Allston told me it means "woman", or "mother". Cool beans... I'm both! ;D Em-Borr is a combination of my maiden name "Emm" and my married name "Borno".

Mine's not too difficult:
Darcu is from my middle and last names (Darren Curtis)
RyMal is actually from one of my faborite characters, Cpt. Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly. I just removed the "e" from Reynolds.
Pretty simple.
