I completed the changes on the costume I posted pics of earlier. I put the new pic next to the old one for comparison (earlier pic on the left newer pic on the right): First off, I darkened the inner tunic with a light wash of diluted black dye and fixed the collar so it would lay down better. I narrowed the shoulder tucks on the outer tunic so they would fit underneath the tabards. I fixed the tabards so they would lay better (I finally broke down and got a dress form and it's made that kind of thing SO much easier!). I also fixed the outer tunic collar so it would lay down flat. I lengthened the skirt and the tabards, which were both too short before (in my opinion). I switched out the red and blue food capsules for gold and silver, and replaced the rivets on my belt with correct rivets. And, last but not least, I switched to a darker pair of pants and boots that I thought go better with this particular outfit. Of course, I wonder if I did all this work to fix the costume in ways that are almost unnoticeable... but I have that worry a lot of times when I'm correcting flaws in my costumes. Comments appreciated. Thanks!

Actually, I can notice the difference. While the original garb was very good, the updated costume is just that much better.

Hi Mark! Both outfits look good. I like both color schemes, but the newer one fits you better. Nice job!

Much better fit Mooglar! New saber too? Its surprising how well the little details change an entire look, particuarly the ones you tweaked Snazzy!

The changes are definitely noticeable, the new costume looks absolutely awesome. This is the saber right? I love your work! And once again, the changes that you made to the costume have increased its effect tenfold. Details play an amazingly important role in costuming, very well done.

Thanks, everyone! It does help to have others reinforce that the work is worth the effort. Primrodo, yes, it is a different saber, and Seda, it is that saber, but I actually changed it too. The gold and weathering looked a lot better in pics than in real life, so I decided to go with a cleaner prequel look. But it's still weathered, though, which I like, with lots of little scratches and with the remnants of the paint still lingering in the nooks. Here's what it looks like now (and in the pic above):

does the graflex clip get in the way of the covertech when you clip it in?

Nice job! The longer tunic does make a difference. I'm partial to the lighter pants, but both look really good. It's nice to have a change of pants if your're at a con for days on end! lol!

Wow! Yes, the little changes do make a difference, especially when seen side by side, pic 1 looks good, but the second pic looks much more finished and fits you better. It's always good to have a couple of pairs of spare pants. I think the lighter pants would look very well with the tunic/undertunic combination as well.

I like the tucks a lot more on your v.2 Same goes for food capsule colors, subtle but better.
The changes are subtle, but you know, that is what costuming is all about, tweaking to is it perfect. I am thinking about doing such tweaks on mine too.

Love the changes you made to your costume.
I am always of thinking about little things I can change about my costume and I'm sure everyone else here does the same. As long as the changes are noticable to you, that's all that matters.
I would be interested in seeing pics of different boots too.

monkey: No, the covertec works just fine with the Graflex clip. Actually, the pommel is what I was worried about, with the spokes coming off it, but it isn't a problem either. JediBaja: I'll take some boot pics and post them when I get a chance. Ky: I did lengthen the skirt about two inches. That was as much as I could lengthen it by putting in an extra strip of fabric under the obi without the seam showing. I would like to just make a new, longer skirt, but I don't have enough fabric left and I haven't been able to match the color yet. I've found that brown crinkle cotton comes in bunches of shades and it's often hard to find the exact same shade again. Since this was $1.00/yd fabric from the Wal-Mart bargain bin, I can't just go get more of it, I have to keep looking til I find the same shade again. If I do, I will put a whole new longer skirt on. I'd rather have a longer skirt, but I think it's at least as long as Bultar Swan's (proportionally), so at least there's a precedent (I think):
