Actually, I think it looks like the artwork, and many of us do not have comic hero bodies, but I'd say I'd know what you were doing as soon as I saw a picture. Good job, looks good.

That's a cool camera Nova. I haven't been able to use Photoshop lately because of my comp's low RAm. Oh well, when I get a Mac I can use it.:-D

Bryanakin: that looks really good. Further along than the prototype stage. And very timely with the movie coming out this summer.

So, I finally got around to doing update pictures of my Jedi costumes for approval with the Rebel Legion. Here's how they have evolved.
- White crinkle cotton undertunic - not great, lots of fixes and experimentation, but you can do that on an undertunic. - Osnaburg cotton tunic, obi, tabbards. Good material, but this one turned out shorter than I wanted. Strangely enough I think the length makes my legs look longer, but I'm always tugging down on it. - And the first good pair of boots that I found on ebay, and one of four belts and pouches that I made. - And my first Big Yellow Box lightsaber.

So, I had to make another with a longer length.
- This is heavy, textured cotton, tunic, tabbards and obi that Justin found. It's a little heavy for regular day wear, but it's awfully nice to have for a chilly Mardi Gras parade day. - White cotton knit undertunic - more fixes and experimentation; too much stretch on an undertunic makes the collar weird in a way that only velcro can fix. - Same boots, another belt with pouches - And the old Heiland flash tube lightsaber that I got ages ago at a garage sale in the 80's long before dealers had figured out that fans were looking for them. - And a cotton twill robe. That was just an experiment to see how cotton would do. It's a little cooler than wool, but I prefer the flow and look of wool Cotton twill is a bit stiff.

So, I had to try again with regular weight fabric with the tunic.
- undertunic is heavier than average crinkle cotton that I found a $1/yd at Wal-Mart. Comfortable and good texture, but the stretch in it makes the collar weird, but for $1/yd, I'm not complaining. - silk noil tunic. Great texture, reasonable price, but I found it too thin, so I lined it with china silk. I prefer not to line tunics if I don't have to. It's just more work. And I used Leda's circle skirt pattern on this one. It came out well, but not so much better than just a simple A-Line to make it worthwhile for me. I think that's because my figure is a basic pear. - linen tabbards and obi. Good material, but they always need to be ironed. And the slightly different color between tunic and tabbards makes them stand out better in photos. - dark brown boots that I added straps to. With careful planning, masking tape, and a metal straight for the leather, it wasn't that difficult to do. - my second Big Yellow Box lightsaber. Much fewer scratches this time - wool crepe robe - highly recommend the martial; looks nice and is light, and it's what they used for Qui-Gon in TPM.

But I was thinking I should try other colors, so I mixed and matched.
- brown crinkle cotton undertunics. The sleeves are good and long, but the collars are only so-so. I just never seem to get a tight fit. - linen tunic sets and that $1/yd taupe crinkle cotton. Mixed up the colors. The tabbards and obis stand out better with the contrasting colors. - Adi Gallia boots that I found on ebay. Very good find. And other boots that I modified with an extra ankle strap. - Parks and Random Sabers sabers. - An Obi-Wan style robe made from 80% wool/20% nylon blend. Nice flow but the robe is heavy and I only use it for cold days - then it's very nice to have. Don't go any higher than 8 oz/ sq yd for a robe.

But I really wanted to try a long tunic.
- dark brown crinkle cotton long undertunic. Still experimenting with collars - taupe silk noil overtunic, stole and obi. Silk noil is perfect for the long robes. Good texture and because there's so much of it, it doesn't feel too thin like with a short tunic. And long tunics are very comfortable and easy to wear. - plain brown boots. You don't need anything special for a long tunic. - tropical weight wool robe with Mace Windu style sleeves. Good choice for robe fabric, too. Light but still woolly.

I am contemplating a couple other outfits, but I have to get to other costume projects first.
All of the pants are cotton and 'off the rack'.

Well, I started with the Heiland flash tube in the 80's. I used it for years (with my more primitive Jedi costume attempts) without knowing it was the base for Vader lightsaber in ANH. It certainly looked like a good lightsaber and it was only $5 at a garage sale. After I started getting serious about doing a good Jedi outfit for the ROTS release I found lot more resources. I have:
- the Heiland flash tube - 2 Big Yellow Box sabers that I made; they're very inexpensive to make and look good, and they're light. - 1 Parks - 1 Random Saber - 2 PVC pipe experiments that looks sort of like primitive lightsabers, but I hardly ever use those.
I do have 3 FX sabers to play with, but I don't use those much with the costume since the blades are fixed.

Ani, I really like the long tunic, tho' I've always had a preference for that look, the rest look really good as well. True the shorter tunic makes the legs look longer.
