Great belt and props... the saber really does look metal, and those pill bottles look fantastic, genuinely star wars. Spectacular work, makes me want to make a "custom" jedi costume, replicas are too restricting

Leda: One hint on using hair clips that I discovered the hard way is that a lot of them have a coating on them over the metal. If you don't chip the coating off before you epoxy the hair clip to the pill bottle, the hair clip will break off, leaving the coating stuck to the bottle.
Seda: Thanks! I like the creativity in doing custom costumes. Though I like doing replicas too. I have an Obi-Wan Episode IV and my next costume will probably be a replica too.

Ah, ok... cool, thanks for that tip... I wouldn't have thought of it! The coating is supposed to make them more comfortable to stick in your hair... so you don't end up shoving the metal through your scalp!

Hey man, Looks really great. Yeah the cloak looks realy good as does the hilt and such. You mentioned you were lengthining the outer tunic correct? It's pretty good , but it might help if you bring it down a bit that way you don't have to tug it down so much

Ky-Wan:
Yep. After I saw some pics of myself I realized I'd trimmed the outer tunic skirt too short. I actually just lengthened it yesterday, so now it's just a tad shorter than the tabards. Much better.
Thanks!

first, i think the robe looks awesome....the cut of it is perfect...i'd like to see it with the hood up and also a close up of the fabric .
secondly, i like the pill bottles....i'm now considering getting a couple to add some "flava" to my belt... also, awesoem work on the "hardware" belt rig. took a second glance to see that's what it is.
i dont really like it when the pants match the undershirt, as yours do, both items look great, only i think a third color should be thrown in there for contrast. that's a matter of personal taste though.
although they do look cool, why the different colored food capsules...just curious about the choice there. ?
excellent work....

The pictures weren't showing for me the other night, looks really good. I like the pill thingies as well. A trick I learned at a jewelry place I used to work at was to remove the coating on hairpins & clips (we used to solder things to them & get them goldplated, so we had to make sure they were clean metal) was to soak them in ACETONE, which you can get in hardware stores or art supply stores, soak in enough to cover, about 15-20 mins. then wipe on a rag or paper towel, the wash and dry.

Nova: That's probably the easy way! I, of course, did it the hard way and chipped the coating off. I'm very good at finding the hard way to do things. :^)
Den: The vagaries of digital photography crept up on me here. The inner tunic and the pants aren't the same color in real life, though I'm not entirely happy with the inner tunic color. I dyed the inner tunic myself, but it didn't quite come out as I wanted. I'm probably going to spray a dilute solution of black dye on the inner tunic to darken it a little. Also, I've found that a dilute spray of black dye mimics sweat stains really nicely, giving kind of a Qui-Gon look which I like.
The truth about the food capsules is that I thought, for some reason, that there were red and blue ones in the films when I made them. I didn't do my research and haven't yet bothered to repaint them.
Thanks for the comment about the belt rig. I actually have gotten some of the correct rivets for holding the narrow belt in place but haven't installed them yet.

Jaryk:
Those are pill bottles. I've seen them at CVS and Walgreen's pharmacies, but I'd imagine they'd probably have them at most pharmacies.
