I like the long hair and bearded look. For example... My hair is a bit longer but the beard is the same. The lovely little lady is my daughter.

My husband grew a beard once for the annual Easter play at church, and he looked HORRIBLE! (OK, he looked like a terrorist...) Yeah that's more or less what my husband looked like! lol! It also aged him. Absolutely!! ;D ;D ;D

Thank you for complimenting my daughter. ;D I am so proud of her. She still says, "Daddy's Jedi!" each time she noticees anything to do with Star Wars. LOL The beard is a look that I "grew" into. It's easier to maintain than being shaved all of the time. If I stick to my plan the beard will be largely hacked away for Celebration IV. It's all a part of the costumed look. I've had long hair off and on since I was a child. I finally got to the point that I realized that I keep growing it long each time after I cut it short and so I've finally reconciled myself to simply keeping it long. Which leads me to this point... Am I alone in the observation that most male Jedi costumers with long hair opt for the Qui Gon Jinn look: hair pulled back into a tail with the very back and bottom hanging free beneath the tail? And those guys that do this also seem to wear the same short Qui Gon beard.

I love a goatee, and I think I look appropriately mature w/ one. Ki-Vaan, the difference between the 2 pics is astounding! The one w/, you look like a full-fledged, older Master, while the one w/out makes you look like a maturing Knight. Personally, I like facial hair if done right, but I feel that after a certain age, if you grow one and sport one for a long time, then shave it off, one tends to look a little fatter in the face. I've tried shaving mine off a couple of times, and each time, I don't look younger, simply fatter in the face (OMG, are those laugh lines! EEEEEE!!!), but if I were to sport a full-fledged beard, I think I'd look like a wildebeest. I definitely vote for beards depending on the man and/or species. I mean, after all, could you honestly envision Kit Fisto w/ ANY facial hair?! Ack! But Yoda w/ a Fu Manchu? Hmm...Possibility, it has, yes?

If I stick to my plan the beard will be largely hacked away for Celebration IV. It's all a part of the costumed look... For the sake of character I plan on attending Celebration IV with a more fantastical look if I can maintain the confidence to wear it... I wore this style for some time years ago but no where near the length of my drawing. Even though I'm allowing it to grow it will not be at the full length by May but it will have some sort of length to it. It is harrowing enough to wear a beard in a world that prefers men to be clean-shaven. To go further and adopt a truly unorthodox style such as this requires both confidence and stoicism. As I said, I wore this style before and it does make one a bit self-conscious. Facial hair styles are fun to experiment with, though. I've worn everything from full beards, sideburns, goatees, and even a rather smashing handlebar moustache (which I will return to at some point). ;D

Nassik, that looks like it would take a while to grow! people will be pulling on it asking... is it real? But that would be so cool it you could do it! Hec, I get asked so many questions about why I have a braid that's twice the length of my hair! And I don't answer everyone honsetly about it!

lmao sound's like me and my experimenting. just be carefull of odd tan lines... LOL! My bro-in-law used to shave his beard every summer, and in the process of doing so, he would play around and shave it into odd looking shapes. Well once he shaved himself some strange patterns (some symbols that his college fraternity used) and we all went to the beach..... Those patterns lasted waaaayyy longer than he'd planned! ;D

Leda, I could never hit that length by Celebration IV. I could probably get between three and four inches, though, and by adding that to my current length (for a total of approximately five inches) the look would be passable and so the point would be served.
