Kids always love it. Really. Even if the saber is simple and there is no blade. They look at it and smile, then their parents asks them to look at the cam. Its a lot of fun.
Another thing that is easily faisable, is to carry one saber without blade, and one with a blade. When you loan a saber, you still have another one.
Its fun to see smaller kids with the "big" lightsaber in their hands... they like it.

Yep, unfortuantly I've never (thats right NEVER) been to an event. Even if I could go to the many that I feel I could attend, I dont think that my costume is yet worthy!

I bet your costume is just fine ... The worst Jedi Costume I ever saw was at CII. They guy had on white sweat pants, a White bathrobe with a tan bathrobe over it, rubber galoshes and 3 inch wide black belt with a Mag light 3 cell flashlight hanging off his belt ... I wish the picture I took came out, because he was the poster child for how not to dress as a Jedi.
