Wow...now that actually LOOKS like a Jedi! The ones they had before, just about when AOTC came out, looked more like a brown Ninja costume. I know, because I made the mistake of buying it...

same here, just bought them this week-end. I intend to try the tunic somewhere this week. Didn`t even look at the patterns so far. I bet the tabbards and sleeves won't be intelligently made...

What? So using a pattern is beneath you? JK! For someone like me, who can barely sew at all, a pattern is practically a must.

a pattern is a must, but I will most likely modify it to suit my needs...
I don't believe the pattern will be 100% accurate as-is, and some things I won't like, I am certain. I guess I should take time tonight to see how it goes.

I'm in process of working on a new Jedi costume using the pattern & yes adjustments definitely need to be made. We're working from the pattern in muslin & watching AOTC to check the differences to correct the pattern to get it up to par before we go into final fabric.

I started to look at it. I don't like the tabbards "shoulder shields" or the obi "belt" but the tunic itself seams to be very nice. Its kinda cool how their undertunic is not an undertunic but simply the visible collar of it, but in another way you are totally missing the sleeves... I will most likely make another tunic instead, or use my older darker one.
I didn't even give a look at the cloak yet, but I am certain you would need to change the hood. I am very satisfied with the one I made with another pattern.

Olos, any chance that the last pattern you used was last year's Simplicity patter. I bought one and am having my grandmother sew it for me. If anyone has used this pattern please tell me what modifications need to be made. Time is of the essence!!

I have the one released this year, which I believe is more movie accurate then the one from last year. The trick is to *use* the pattern, not to *follow* it. I mean, its a tool, not a 100% exact pattern. Do you have the number on your simplicity pattern you have? mine is the 4450.

well... I haven't see that one, but from what I have heard on it, the cloak looks more like an elve then a jedi; the obi isn't great and the tabards are just some weird shoulderpads... I don't know if the actual tunic is any good, tough, but I think it was the #1 choice before the 4450.
I would simply not put too much hope in the cloak, obi and tabbards, but the tunic should look great.
