see the thing is, cutting it wouldnt bother me too much because its just hair and it grows back.. im not sure, ill prolly cut it to about 2 inches and push it all back out of my eyes and leave the little ponytail in the back and make a braid

I'm femail & I know that I've had a boys cut hair cut for many years & I'm not about to let it grown below my neck. It's a maintance thing with me--the easier the better. I am growing enough hair over my right ear to have a braid for my costume. I'm hoping to keep it until maybe the 30th anniv of Star Wars, if I can put up with it till then. Otherwise it's back to all short short hair.

*Heaves sigh of releif* It looks like the Padawan braid is approved for females! So I can keep mine... ;D I was wondering about this myself, actually! If I hadn't seen this thread, I would have posted one of my own! Don't know if my own hair would be thick enough for the 'long braid down your back' idea. But at least it's long enough for the Padawan braid! BTW, there were human female Jedi in the Arena scene. I counted at least three; Bultar Swan blond in all beige outfit w/'crown' braid the Jedi in my Avatar (yes, she's a girl; look closer and you'll see) I havent' seen any human Female padawans, either...unless you count the two or three little Younglings training with Yoda. They had shoulder-length hair.

I said the ratio of female Jedi on screen, as apposed to male Jedi. There were quite a few female Jedi during the Geonosis scene... but how many male Jedi were there?

It mentions them in a few places in the Jedi Apprentice & Quest novels. There are several femalepadawan characters, some human.

I'm getting my hair cut to its usual very very short length but I'm leaving a portion of my hair over the right ear for my braid, but since my hair isn't quite long enough yet I'm going to add a hair piece that's going to be braided into what I already have to make the padawan braid go past my shoulder so I can put my colors on for a few costume events that are coming up that I'm going to participate in with full costume. The only thing I'm not going to have is the pony tail in the back.

The pony tail in the back is not required, there are several hairstyles that I've seen on female Jedi & padawans and the styles vary quite alot as do the descriptions in the books.

decided to just cut it, i got the ponytail and the back realllllly short but i left the top longish because i like having bangs, and of course i left the braid hair behind my ear, its still fairly short though, just falls past my ear pic of the back i found while sorting through pictures my dad took at disney world

I think that'll work just fine. There doesn't seem to be a required hairstyle other than a Padawan braid if you are a species w/ hair, anymore than there is a required uniform for Jedi, mostly it's about being functional and not a show of vanity.
