I wouldn't think they'd have the short "mullet-Jedi" padawan look. They might still have the braid, but they'd probably have longer hair. I don't remember seeing any female Jedi padawans in the movies, except Bariss Offee, and she had a hood. I'm guessing just keep your hair as it is and add a braid. Other's might know a better idea or how the haircut actually looks. Hopefully that helped!

my hair is already fairly short, so cutting it wouldnt totally kill me like it would most girls, its about 3.5 inches long so even if it didnt look right it wouldnt take long to grow back. i just wanted to know if its correct.

Well, I'd think you could do anything you thought would look good. I've seen no human female Jedi in the movies, so I don't think there are any standards for it. Do whatever looks cool! And take pictures when you have your costume and hair done! I'm sure whatever you choose will look great!

yup, as soon as my costume is finished up i will be posting pics, i have my outer robe all done, and tunic fabric ordered. my deadline is october so it will def be finished up by then. chances are ill cut my hair to about an inch and a half, im right now growing it out (its killing me, ive needed a haircut for weeks and i still have another 2 months) so i have enough for the pony tail and to make it look like i have a braid and can add a fake behind my ear, i have another con in april and will hopefully have a real padawan braid by then.

you should make your hair into a ponytail and then add the braid, or keep a hood on at all times. and my hair was about 3.5 in long about 2 months ago, but then I got it cut and my hair looked like young Anakins at the end of EI

From what I can gather from research, female padawans don't have to cut their hair. Most wear it in a braid or a tail down their backs. They must, however, wear the traditional Padawan braid behind the right ear.
So if your hair is short, just go with the padawan braid and don't worry about the rest.
I decided when my master cut my braid that I wear my hair short anyway. It's about the same length (no more than an inch at it's longest) as Obi-Wan's in EP I. Best decision I could have made with the recent heat we've been having and I joke with my friends that it sure is easier to deal with on missions (going to class and lab).

Padawans with hair wear the braid on the rightside, it is to make them recognisable as students. Wonder what they do with padawans that have no hair?

that really is a good question i have no idea what they do with alien padawans. update on my haircut, my mom doesnt want me cutting it padawan short but i will be cutting a good inch at least off of it so i can make the little padawan ponytail in the back

It looks short enough to me. I think you should keep it as long as it is and simply add the braid.

I say keep em! I doubt that even George Lucas would want you to lose any femininity for the sake of his story But then again he was pretty sexist when it came to the ratio of female Jedi on screen. At least they werent all wearing skimpy outfits. ...except for Aayla. Oh well!
