Hi all.... catching up again, school has been kicking my beehind! Once upon a time I was going to be a middle school (junior high, for ya'll northern cousins) teacher, but then couldn't finish college. Then I worked for Waldenbooks for 10 years (sucky management job but it was pretty nifty there for a while when Ep 1 came out - i have a cool promo full size stand up cardboard battle droid! woot!) Then I got married and didn't want to work weekends anymore, so I got into data entry/clerical work for a small place. After five years there I decided (with a lot of prompting from my husband) that it was time to finish college. Now I go to school part time and work part time for a Dept of Labor contract; it started as data-entry, but then they decided to take advantage of my new college major - I am now officially a Technical Writer. All that really means is that I take old user guides and installation guides written 20 years ago by programmers and try to make them... ummm... readable.. hehehehee.... But when I get my degree I want to be a science writer, hopefully in something Astronomy or space related. (Physics in the Fall..... aaaaaauuugh!) Lala

Astronomy... my favorite field! Good luck to you! I'm a geek enought about it to have a favorite science writer... Rob Roy Britt, who writes for Space dot com. He seems to make everything funny, and has a certain sarcastic wit about him, while stating the facts in a professional manner. I love it!

I finished college with a degree in Psychology, but I had no desire to attend more school in order to pursue a Master's Degree. So I now work as an Administrative Assistant for a Human Resource Consulting Firm in the Retirement section of the business. On the weekends, I work for a small wedding videography company owned by a friend of mine. I get to crash other peoples' weddings and run a video camera, basically. It's wonderful!

Well.... I don't do anything except collect a disability check... Sounds easy, but it was not my career goal! I worked in accounting for many years (20+)... a theme park, a law firm, a consulting company, an air conditioning contractor... I do manage an Ebay store for my sister, but I do that for free... Stalking Ewan full time? That's not a job, it'd be an adventure!

For me what pays the bills right now, I am Software support Engineer for Oracle On Demand.
Also my wife and I have a home business helping people with Wellness and Weight loss. The above is no longer true ... I'm unemployed and looking for work.

What a bummer Mon-Jas Are there many jobs available in your area in your field? Hopefully it will turn into a positive thing in the end....

Agreed... our thoughts and prayers are with you, Master Mon-Jas. Hope the unemployment won't last long! Me? I was an art major -- drawing and painting -- back when the original Star Wars was released. (I liked making all sorts of costumes back then for various dorm events, socials, etc. -- usually something "assembled" from items from the thrift store and fabric store.) Then I decided "I can't earn a living being an artist", so I switched to Interior Design, which is my degree. I hated it. Not the decorating part, but the selling part, which is more of what working in that field really entailed. It didn't fit my temperament. So after I married I quit and went to work with my husband for several years in a family business where I learned bookkeeping. That's what I do now -- for a Christian non-profit organization -- and I have worked here for 14 years. It's a small office, the people are really great, and I've discovered I'm more "task-oriented" so it suits my temperament better. (And I'm a bit "tightly wound" and "perfectionist" as you have probably observed from some of my posts so that fits with doing accounting.) I still like to paint -- watercolors, mainly landscapes -- and do creative stuff such as the faux finishes and costuming.
