Yeah that's right... the Obi-Wan TPM costume is the same... it's made of a rubbery material that appears to have begun as a flat strip, and the design was then pressed into it. I actually cut the pouches off of the belt and glued them to blocks of wood---Those were my 1st pouches! lol! Glad to say I've come a long way!

Some of us just can't help ripping apart Rubie's costumes. It's meant partly in fun, partly as informational. At least with me it is.

I'm glad I never had the Rubie's experience. Not even my most primitive Jedi attempts (all of them re-made now) had such failings.

The belt is latex, and is poured on a mold. I have never liked the Anakin costume, but, the people who buy it mostly just want it for a party, and they aren't expensive, it would be nice if they were more accurate, but that usually raises the cost a considerable amount, personally, I hate the fabric even more than the design(YUCK! but that's a costing factor too). I learned that when I worked there, $.01 in manufacturing can change the retail cost by several dollars, which can make or break a costumes success, since they base their numbers on sales in the hundreds of thousands of peices per costume. Not defunding them, just saying that is why it is the way it is, when you get into the rental quality stuff, licensed costumes are rare, but they are more like the cost of The Supreme Editions of Amidala & Vader, they aren't bad, they aren't Darth Zippy's Vader, but they are decent costumes. We however aspire to a higher level of Jedi costuming art. As for the glove, well, it might be something that you could find in a motocross sports section of a cycle store, and as someone said they look like a left open slider buckle from a ski boot or something like that. My guess is that the glove is going to get very pricey as you put it together.

I know the glove isn't 100% accurate, but for my needs, I think it'd be ideal, does anyone know how much it actually costs? I can't seem to find the info on Rubies website :-\

I think it'll be about US $20, & less for the child's size, which fit me in the Darth Vader glove, I have a fairly wide, but short hand. I saw it at Toy Fare, better than I expected, but the technology has improved since I worked there. The reason that you haven't really seen it yet is that they have not arrived in stock from the factories yet. We have ordered them for the store, but almost none of the new styles have arrived from the factories or been shipped to the stores yet, we're usually among the 1st to get it in, because wwe order w/ our partner chain and they/we are a very big customer.

$20 is a good price, much cheaper than I'd have to pay elsewhere for something that wasn't even close to what I was looking for. As for hand size, I wonder how I'd get on though, as my hands are long and narrow (medium width but large in finger length) Most gloves that will fit across my hands, are too short in the fingers I might just have to order one and see what it's like

I think I'll start saving and order one Even if it's only a passable fit it would be okay, and if it really doesn't fit at all, I can always just return it

We got the gloves in today. They aren't that bad. They are Dark Brown, and I was right on the money on the cost, US $20, kids are $15, the kids fit me but was a bit snug & definitly to short for most adults, my fingers are very short, plus was proportionatly short on the arm, less than 6 inches above my wrist. You'll need the adult, could easily be altered, to take in looseness in hand & finger. It looks a little better than the sample I saw at toy fair, which was not a production version. By the way, most costume places don't do much w/ returns.

Thanks for the additional info, I'll definitely look into getting one When you say Dark Brown, do you mean a kind of darkish brown that looks brown, or a really dark brown that looks almost black?

It is about the same colour as his tabbards. Dark brown, would only look black in low light. I saw brown right away.
